On the first day of my weekend, I decided to revisit the Montezuma Castle National Monument for a refresher since I will be visiting the Montezuma Well as well. These two places are just about twenty minute away from each other. I was amazed at the ruins on both of these places but what's really awesome is the ruin at the entrance of the cave where some bats live. After checking out the Montezuma ruins. We headed north to camp for the night. We picked a dispersed camping nearby the Lava River Cave in Flagstaff. I was pleased with the weather in Flagstaff. I did not expect that it will be a chilly night so I did not bring my sleeping bag and I kept on waking up due to cold. The next day, not too far from our campsite, we hiked the Lava River Cave. It has a moderate foot traffic due to being a popular cave and a short hike. I wish I brought more flashlight to the cave better. I was grateful for always having a pair of gloves in my pack. It helped me a lot scrambling on the wet boulders.

Lava River cave is super cool. Even in summer the air there is cold, you can feel the cold air as you approach it. And I also went right at the 2 tunnel and on the way back realized the other side doesn’t require you to crawl 🤦🏻‍♂️😂 If you’re ever near Sierra Vista, visit the Coronado Cave, it’s super cool 😱😎, and get ready to get super dusty in there 🤣. You can combine that hike to a visit to the Coronado Peak, also really cool spot 🤘👍

I just did the Peppersauce Cave, is that the same one? There's a lot of areas where I had to squeeze myself in just to get to a bigger cave. Since I arrived later in the afternoon, most people are done hiking it. It was scary! I wasn't able to finish the hike.

@@sunkissedmary no, Coronado Cave is in right by the border with Mexico, actually you can see Mexico from Coronado Peak. Peppersauce Cave still in my bucket list. 😉
