Alyn and Stephen have an early start as they aim for Slieve Binnian for sunrise. The reward is a beautiful light display over the Mourne Mountains to herald a chilled out day of exploring inc. the Percy Bysshe caves.

Hi Alyn. A spectacular sunrise 🌅. You captured it well. It was well worth the early start. It brought back memories of my only visit to the Mournes. A lovely spot for your unusual breakfast 😂. Thoroughly enjoyed your video. All the best 👍.

It was such a great morning Andrew. A great wee walk all round. The "Back Castles" is a lovely spot to stop for a break. Great views down over the valley and up the Annalong River. Not sure what Stephen was thinkin bringing Ham sandwiches for breakfast but tbh they were pretty tasty. Also, its been your only visit to the Mournes...to date. Maybe you'll be back soon. Thanks for the encouragement.

Thats the truth Niall. Great mornin, super sunrise. Perfect way to start the day. And yeah that route is so good. Really straight forward and lots to see along the way. Great memories. Good times

Well done for making the effort to get up from your beds to see that sunrise!! 😎 So, so beautiful - what a treat that must have been (beating the ham sandwiches, porridge and even the real coffee hands down!!) Gorgeous sights to see on this dark and dreary morning 😉 Lovely memories!!

Was a beautiful morning Miriam. Maybe just a little too warm. Maybe I'm just being a little picky, but 16C at 04.30 is too warm. It was a great sunrise 🌅 and a really chilled wee walk. Good times (ham sandwiches included)

The effort and energy needed to invest in your own rest. Seems like a contradiction yet it’s so true.

Alyn, what a beautiful 'sunrisey sunny morning'☀ Loved all that mist forming and swirling around. I agree that a 3am start is pushing it a bit👍Those views over Ben Crom have to be the best in the Mournes. You definitely have to do some of that shimmying to get well into the Percy Bysshe caves. How cool to have such a relaxed day with no pressure on a stunning day. I do feel slightly like a tut tut is due for you both forgetting those headtorches 😊

I know, I know Gerry! I could have kicked myself when I arrived at the carpark. Stephen had his wee torch and it was brightening up so we felt pretty confident that we wouldn't be in darkness too long. Thank goodness. It was a belter of a mornin though and that fog/ cloud rolling in off the sea was beautiful. Despite the early hour it was absolutely worth it.

The formations (inc the tors) on Binnian are all like that and they are beautiful indeed. Its a special place.

Lovely thing to do, sunrise never gets old, brand new every time. Sound quality is great here.

I totally agree. I love sunrise walks, they are always special. Thanks for the comments on the sound too, it's always a challenge on the side of a mountain, but it seems to have worked well this time.

@@walkwatchers For any video I’m proud of I think I spend easily as long on the sound as I do on the visual side. At the end of the day we experience life at that ratio so we naturally enjoy video at an equal balance of audio and visual. Doesn’t it show the genius in our evolution that we don’t need big fluffy covers on our ears to filter out the wind noise.
