One of the best ways to enjoy the scenic beauty of the Columbia River Gorge is to hike the Coyote Wall Loop Trail, a moderate 6.8-mile trail that offers stunning views of the river, the mountains, and the wildflowers. The trail winds through oak groves, rocky outcroppings, and cascading waterfalls, and reaches a grassy slope where you can admire the panorama of the gorge and Mount Hood. After this rewarding hike, we drove to Carson, Washington, a small town nestled in the forest, and stayed at the Backwoods Brewing Cabins, a cozy and comfortable lodging option next to the Backwoods Brewing Company. We relaxed by the gas fireplace, enjoyed some tasty pizza and beer, and planned our next adventure in the gorge.
