Wait..does the DeWalt compact router have more power than the hikoki full size?!?!?
@baseballdude8491
@baseballdude8491 2 года назад
@@whatthehellimbored no we tried using the 60V flexvolt battery on the jobsite and the router kept stalling out and got super hot and smoked The 36V Hikok/Metabo HPTi has more oomph than DeWalt and Milkwaukee and better protection cut off But if u want a real beast for with the 1/2" full size Hikoki/Metabo HPT Plunge router we have two if them and they can also be use with the AC adapter and in a router table

The little Shinwa rule is a nice touch. What a nice guy the ebay seller is. I have a number is Shinwa squares and rules. Super handy and nice in the hand. As far as the routers go, I will just wait until makita comes out with a 40v version. But, thanks for the video. Super fun!

I cant say for sure but i think the regulars(or at least me) watch ur vids for the experience and atmosphere u put out in every vids. I don't really know how to explain it, maybe it's like a conversation going on when watching ur vids or something else. That being said, I don't watch ur vids with expectations to get every bit of accurate information bout the tools, like you said many factors decide the outcome, I watch ur vids to get a general idea and feeling bout the tools, and ur thoughts on the tools(sometimes not just tools, ur insights, speculations, criticisms regarding tool companies or whatever). So yeah, I subscribed for your stuff, not for a particular brand's stuff tldr: I really like your style and chill personality(your vids just feel 'real' and down to earth), keep it up, even if you happen to change I will still stick around

Great review and I think all the questions anyone might have regarding Hikoki routers are answered. I really appreciate your final thoughts and recommendations. I think I'll go with the 36v trimmer since I already have a plunge corded one for bigger and more occasional tasks, the 36v trimmer seems to have the best balance between power and size. Even though I'm invested in the Hikoki/Metabo HPT platform I love your channel and ALL your reviews no matter what the tools' brand or country of origin they are. Looking forward to the multitool review too!! Keep up the good work!

You may find on the small stuff the difference between 18v & 36v is the runtime. Appreciate you said power was not noticeable on the roundovers, but maybe runtime is... You could run either 36v router with a mains power cord! Be interested to see the power results. Of course it would offer unlimited runtime over the 18v which can't have a cord The other benefit of 18v is the 'not top heavy' 3ah packs...

More Hikoki TTR please & all the other power tool brand's too. I'm VERY interested to know if Hikoki have a new "Power Stack" battery coming out soon. As Dewalt 20v max have just released it & apparently flex power tools have it already. It my not be as strong as others, but it gets the job done. I like it & your purple colored impact driver. Jim from Philly fixed just received his black & white Hikoki 36v impact dr, because of you. Lol Thanks bro, appreciate your time. 🙏🏾👍🏾🖤's🤙🏾🔥🔥🔥

The quiet impact by Hikoki looks interesting. From what I could make out in the pics on eBay🤣 it seems to use sort of a double 1/2 anvil to mitigate noise as opposed to oil and does something like 70db. Like to see how that tech stacks. Anyway thanks man!

I loved your review of this and the plunge so much that I went I imported one of the 36v trim routers to the states. I am also awaiting delivery of the plunge. Only thing is, where can I find the 1/4 inch collet? Only thing my lackluster google-ing could drum up was to just buy the 18v one and take that collet.

That hikoki multitool is the best tool for blade changes short of the fein or festool. The fact with one twist more than starlock you can fit ANY style of blade is a winner in my book
@kizzjd9578
@kizzjd9578 2 года назад
I looked into it. Starlock can handle higher oscillation range and torque compared to the OIS system. Hence why makita went that eay with the dtm52. They use 80mm lomg blades and has a range of movement of 3.6°. Festool has 4° of movement and uses a similar starlock design as well.
@lonedesertfox
@lonedesertfox 2 года назад
I would argue that the rigid is the best with dewalt at a very close second when it comes to blade changes. Tool less changing is a winner for me. I had the metabo hpt multi tool and couldn’t get used to it.

That sounds positive.. I’m also in NZ and I’m mainly on the Hikoki platform (18v mostly, gradually acquiring multivolt tools). But I did get the corded Makita trim router kit with all their four bases.. it’d be great if those bases worked on cordless Hikoki tool.

Great video as always. I loved your comment 'i wish it was a little better than it is'. I really dislike the electronic switch with time out! Hoping they make a matching 40v router by makita so i can use my existing corded router bases (they are the best) and that it is alittle bit better than the hikoki 😉
@ryanthelocalhandyman9751
@ryanthelocalhandyman9751 2 года назад
I’ve heard that the makita plunge base with a little shaving of the guide pin will accept the 18v hikoki trimmer, So the 36v should also slide in. That would be a deadly combo, the 36v hikoki with all the bases from makita

They did the same with the die grinder, 36v model for japan and 18v for the rest of the world. The 36v router and die is only for the Japanese domestic market. They decided 18v was the best option for them 2 tools for the rest of the world.

No idea, I spent a bit of time trying find out why. Some hikoki tools in japan they have 14.4v, 18v and 36v of the same tool. The 125mm metal saw is one example, come in 3 voltages
@histguy101
@histguy101 Год назад
@@Andrew-xd9fg They also have 36v batteries in Japan that don't work with 18v tools, like the bsl3660, so I could see why they might want to have a 36v version of most of their tools available there.
