Hikvision 5.1.2 Firmware Chinese Only Problem

A large batch of Hikvision cameras got a Chinese development version of the firmware by accident. If you run into this, and it should say the version on the label on the box, you'll need to put regular firmware on it.
Since it's in Chinese, it's hard to navigate which menu options are what. I walk you through the process.
Before you begin, use the included SADP software to find the camera and set it to an IP address in your home network.

Thanks from New Zealand. This helped me fixed a Chineese only hikvision camera i bought from aliexpress. English working fine now.

Thanks for the info. Worked for me on a DS-2CD2032. For info: I noticed that Chinese only version 5.1.2 appears to have a shockwave option/alternative to the webcomponents plug-in? When I downgraded to 5.1 the shockwave option seems to have disappeared so perhaps this is new in the 5.1.2 ? Sorry if I have that wrong - I'm new to Hikvision products.

Please ignore my comment about shockwave options disappearing in 5.1. It seems this was due to me using the 64bit version of IE. When put it in compatibility mode the option came back. It also appears when using Google Chrome.

not sure why I always have to be the unlucky one, but I followed your steps and when I clicked on the "browse" button to find the firmware file, nothing pops up, nothing happens so I can't select the new (older) firmware. any ideas?

I have a Hikvision network camera that i need to update the firmware i can't seem to be able to log into the camera . I put in the IP Address but no log in screen. Someone said i need to be on the same ip subnet to do this , i don't really know how to do that . Does anyone know if this is true. And can someone help me with trying to log in to this camera . Thanks
