I always uses EUR url to download my FW. I've got a new one available, but it comes with two versions plus an Excel file which is supposed to explain which one to use... But cannot be opened. Frunstrating... 😣
Loved your video, very helpful except for one thing. Is it ok to jump many versions of firmware or do you have to upgrade each version one at a time. I have never upgraded the Firmware and some of my cameras are 4 years old.
Thanks Kevin - You should be fine upgrading to the latest version. However, as your cameras are 4 years old, I would first upgrade to a version which is say 2 years old, then jump up to the latest (just to be on the safe side)
@@TweakTips Thank you for the quick reply, unfortunatley I have just read that the 10 that are DS-2CD2132-I model with the Firmware version V5.1.0 131202 have to be updated version after version and at present I can not find any of these versions. The only reason I have been looking at this is because I was thinking of upgrading a couple of cameras to the latest Acusense and or Colourview to stop all the false night time recordings because of insects.
Thanks for posting. I have however followed your video and what I have is a message at the bottom of the page: "Please click here to download and install the plug-in. Close the browser when installing the plug-in". I did that but to no avail. I noticed that you didn't have that on yours and despite having installed and restarted the browser I can't get to browse to the location of the file. Any thoughts?
Hi Michael - I had the same issue for a while. I had to re-install the plugin straight after rebooting my PC (before loading Chrome). Alternatively, try Internet Explorer as that seems to work straight away
Hello there, can we update our Hikvision DVR Firmware irrespective of the region we are in as I also could not find the latest firmware for my DVR on other sites but the Hikvision european site. Thanks
Be warned, if you have a chinese version of these cameras (CCCH in the serial # - often the ones sourced from aliexpress) the Euro firmware (and I assume US) will semi-brick or brick the camera. I found out the hard way. I hope others don't have to :) There are hacks around to try and resolve some of these issues but things get complicated...
Just a warning no disrespect to the video owner but I tried this and my system knocked back the up date and has locked me out of system plus cameras with no recovery. Cost to repair was more than the price of the system.Technician had to email Hikvision to un lock each camera. IF YOUR SYSTEM WORKS DON'T TOUCH IT!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Leighrohan - the default is usually admin or 12345. You can reset a HIKVISION IP camera back to default factory settings by doing the following (this will wipe ALL settings): Disconnect the power supply (or LAN cable). Press and hold the reset button. Keep holding the reset button and restore the power supply (or LAN cable). Continue to hold the reset button for a further 10 seconds. Release the button and allow the camera to complete a restart/reboot.
