*We purchased this after moving, and previously had a spotlight **Newest.Technology** cam with solar power. The wired pro cam has much better light (about the same as a bright porch light), and the image is significantly more clear with much better details.*

I love this video, I would love to see more of how you have every thing set up as far as your cable tv/internet coming in and how you have every thing set up.. Just bought my house and im looking for a better way to set every thing up from cable outlets, cable lines and so forth. I want to put things in my attic but scared it might be to hot up there.

i've got one of this, but can't figure out if it supports a tilt function? thought it did when i ordered, but now it looks like it's a static position , as software does not allow me to do any movements. Do i need to set the position manually inside the camera via a screwdriver?

so, you just shove the wires into the connector in any order , twist them and crimp it? It doesnt matter how they go in just that they go into the connector?

I hope you can help me. I recently purchased a HiLook DVR which is manufactured by Hikvision I believe. I have four IP cameras by the same make all plugged in via POE. I've got a H264 (no model name I'm afraid) located in a bird box. It's been plugged into a PO E adapter for the last year and I've been able to view it using an IP viewer and also had a hosted online the public to also see. A few days ago I plugged it into the back of my DVR and it worked perfectly okay. However, when I plugged it back into the PO E adapter the IP viewer can't find it. Also, when I go into my router settings I can't find the IP address for it. I've got SADP installed and that can find the camera. It gives me an IP address and the port it displays is the same as the DVR. I don't suppose you can shed any light on why it's not working now

Video is helpful but I don't understand something: Why do you not follow industry standards (ie 586B) for the ordering of your wires in the cables? I'm new at this, just built some cat 6 cables and it takes me a while but you flew through it not having any concerns about the ordering of the wires? Am I missing something? Thanks!

I have 2 hikvision dome cameras that I had professionally installed. I am getting a new router since my current one is not working that well for general internet connectivity. This has not impacted my cameras per se but my concern is when I get the new router I will not be able to have cameras remain connected. Is it as simple as just plugging the camera Ethernet into the new router or do I need to go into camera setting and add new router IP or anything? I am not savvy with networking these things. Any ideas?
@DennisCosteaJr
@DennisCosteaJr 5 лет назад
This is a nicely worded question John, so I hope by now (a year later) you have transitioned to the new router and everything is working properly. To answer the question in general, by 'Default' many IP devices go to an Internet / Internetworking Protocol address of: '192.0.0.64' and this would not be recognized by most networks as 'valid'. Once your router is connected, that device typically defaults to the more common '192.168.1.1' for residential and business use. Businesses often do not use this IP Address 'range' as a Default, but some may. For home use, the 192.168.1.x range allows for devices on the 'x.x.1.x' subnet from 'x.x.1.1' to 'x.x.1.254' or a total of 253 devices! The 192.168.1.1 address is 'Reserved' as a Gateway address, but also know that some 'Default' settings may use x.x.0.1, or a '.0.' subnet range. Hopefully you have no where near that many devices connecting to your home network. After everything is connected to the new router, it may still be possible to navigate to the cameras using their existing settings, but in order to achieve that you would need to have written those down BEFORE switching to the new router. In other words, the installation of the router will NOT change anything on the cameras, unless they were previously configured for DHCP (or Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol), an adaptive IP addressing scheme. The most likely scenario is your camera IP addresses were set to addresses similar to 192.168.1.100 and x.x.1.101, or something similar. Since you have these settings written down somewhere, or viewed them on the old router, please refer to those configuration notes. If you do not have the settings for each camera, then downloading the 'SADP' software and using it to view the settings of each camera BEFORE removing the old router and installing the new router is advised. - If the new router is already installed, then possibly you can unplug everything and temporarily swap back onto the old equipment long enough to run the SADP software and capture the details from the cameras. - If the old router is not available, or if you simply want to try the SADP software on the new router (i.e. the 'new' network) then please do! The SADP software is a 'passive' scanning utility program, so it is basically like using a flashlight in a dark room. SADP allows the operator to 'View' and 'Alter' (or update) settings, but it does not modify any settings automatically; each step in updating a camera's settings must be done deliberately, step-by-step, in order to effect changes. I hope this information is of use to you and others.
@barnabydixon5893
@barnabydixon5893 5 лет назад
Hey John, here's an even better reply. Keep your old network as it is, with cameras and your NVR connected to your old router. And then just run one ethernet wire from the old router to the new router. That way your new router will handle your internet traffic, and you'll have the same old internal network to handle the cameras, with no additional configurations needed.
