While waiting for drier weather... Umm.. trying to understand the issues of the FAKE Hiland PSU board, while inadvertently repairing a genuine Hiland PSU board.
Confusing. You keep saying things such as "I'm going to put this ..." But what do you mean by "this" - are you talking about a component such as a resistor, capacitor, diode, OR maybe you mean the board, or a multimeter proble. Yoiu know what you're talking abouit but we - your audience - can't read your mind. We don't know what you mean by "this" in that context, even if you do.
With mine the LED is not very bright at all, and i have only 7mv on output at max. When I touch the potentiometer it becomes a little brighter on 1 position, sometimes if i touch it too much the led goes off completely. What could it be?
Sorry being a little late on this issue 🙄 I also have a couple of those kits off ebay and couldn't adjust 0V too. After much fiddling and fretting I discovered that all TL081 were fake and noticed that pins 1 and 5 (Offset Null) were inoperant, that is, they were not connected internally. The other connections were OK and in fact they worked correctly as strict op-amps in the way they work in a dual op-amp chip, that is, no offset null adjustment at all. Maybe factory dual rejects with one op-amp busted and rewired as a single op-amp chip? Chinese crap again! You do need Offset Null in at least Q2 to set 0V with the trimmer. I replaced them with proper known good uA741 and now the 0V can be adjusted properly and the circuit works as intended.
Also 90va is the continuous rating of a transformer and we very very rarely use our bench psu at full power for hours. I used a bigger transformer in my builds to avoid voltage drop at the top end
i had fount a lot ofc changes for this kit 5.6 zeners 60,000uhf, by passing ac go to just dc? and they say tle2141 are best and lot of resistors our hier rated like 2.2 all need to be 1 to 3watts 270 1watt to 2 ect. i been tring to make one work but i alwase fair i been si careful tested all components ect. i bumed realy diapointed at this sorry can not spell so good had to drop out school to help take care of my 2 younger brothers i just so confused realy??
Probably bad opamps, so worth swapping them out. Use sockets for them. You could test them on a scope/multimeter too if you have either. The resistors will work, but yes could be higher wattage in a couple of them. Check the big white snubber hasn't blown too. I got caught out with that.

@@Elecifun Yes, its good feeling to suddenly realise that its working. I hope I can get mine working. The last one I was very fussy about orientation and parts placement which means i doubt I can get it to work still I'll try regardless.

@14:34 that trimpot is not working on your counterfeit Hiland board and its not working on mine either. I can't remember now but I think I have two fake boards both have the same issue. Surely we can't have fkd up me two boards and you at least one board.🤔 Maybe the printed it incorrectly and the 5V1 should be some where else. I was reading another article and he claims that was the problem. Sigh.

Anyway he decided it was cheaper to live in Spain and commute each day. 😀 He used to jump on a jet every day and fly in Heathrow I guess and quick trip to work. Then the return journey. I wonder what happened to him. I know what you mean about poverty. Buying electronic isn't cheap either. I just resolved an issue with an AliExpress seller. I bought two transformers. A 80W 24V And A 30W 15W-0-15W. Finally they both arrived. I had to go through my bank to get it sorted. Anyway as they say alls well that ends well. I'd love some more electronic gear but geezez its fqn expensive. Even a piece of fqn timbre cost $50. Sigh. Over here people are losing it. People are stealing meat. I bought 8 or 12 I'm to embarrassed to look. I have the original Hiland boards working fine, but none of the fakes work and I haven't had time to go over every connection searching for differences between both fake and original.
@@Elecifun oh okay. Persist with them you might be able to modify a few components and get them to work. Anyway let me know if you get them to work. I bought two 0~35V 5A boards. Looking at them now I'll be lucky if I can get them to work. The issue is the transformer needs 4 different voltages which means either a custom transformer or 3 or 4 transformers. Sigh. Think I might have bitten off more than I can chew. The 0-28 2A are good and I might make a video of them. Anyway night ... Decem. 🙋🏻♂️🇦🇺

Hi, well I tested my 0~28V 2A I bought a dummy load 0-25V 4.5A. Well when I wind it up (the dummy load) to 25V and 1.25 Amps its kinda unstable. The power supply is set to 25V and 1.25A of current. I'd love to know why I can't get more out of it. Is it the transformer which is 60VA.🤔 Anyway I'll get a bigger transformer 80VA. I'm also going to get a lot more transistors and other components.
