Rory Bremner and Hugh Dennis play Prince Charles giving a speech on the occasion of his mother's birthday. What is he REALLY thinking? Taken from Mock the Week, season 1 episode 2
1:15 My favourite bit. The first time I watched this I nearly pissed myself laughing. I couldn't fucking breathe I was laughing so hard. Hugh Dennis is fucking brilliant. XD
Hi, Darrmash! If that's a genuine question, the genuine answer is that The Prince of Wales is allowed to generate income from the Duchy of Cornwall estate (a bit of land owned by each Prince/ Duke of Cornwall [one of Chuck's inherited titles] since 1337). He can't sell the land, but he can make money from it. Most income is from boring things like land and property rent. Charles decided to start a business selling organic products made on the estate. This was non-controversial, reasonably 'green', and provided lots of jobs for the locals. One of the most successful lines was Duchy Originals oaty biscuits. I've not tried them, but you can be pretty sure that they cost a fortune and that peeps buy them for their snob value alone. The boxes have a portrait of Charles on the front and every biscuit is stamped with the Ducal crest. Some people find that sort of thing exciting. I bet a lot of customers keep a box unopened so they can flog it on eBay as soon as something interesting or ghastly happens dynastically. My favourite biscuits are chocolate Hobnobs. They're cheap, not organic, and are full of fat and sugar and covered in yummy milk chocolate and are absolutely f***ing delicious. Sorry. You didn't need to know that...
