Hilary Duff talks about her return to television as the star of “How I Met Your Father” and why she’s still holding out hope for a “Lizzie McGuire” revival. bit.ly/VarietyS... / variety / variety / variety
I never saw the original HIMYM so to me I have nothing to compare this to, so as a stand-alone series it’s really enjoyable and has a lot of potential. Hilary carries this show so well.
Comparing shows only lead to disappointment. This days it’s best to watch shows without high expectations. I’ve seen the first episode of this show, and I like it. I can already tell that how I met your mother was the better show for me, but it’s all based on matter of opinion
Even though I am glad that Hilary is doing another tv show but I just wish Disney should have just stick with her doing the Lizzie McGuire revival instead of a How I Met your Mother spin-off and I also wouldn’t mind for Lizzie to be an adult show like how Paramount+ did with iCarly
The Lizzie McGuire revival was supposed to be adult, targeted at the audience who grew up with the original to be more precise. Until Disney intervened. Since the two episodes filmed were already too adult for Disney+, the show could've easily been shifted to Hulu. Too bad Disney was transfixed on reintroducing Lizzie to a much younger audience, but that is disservice to the OG fans who are adults.
She is a Millenial Icon and critics have to start giving her the place that she deserve!! Listen Variety you gave HIMYF one of the worst reviews and still she gave you this interview. We already watch the show and its not bad that bad! really great actually!.
If Lizzie Maguire ever does a revival the cast have to be the original cast or at least similar, not Sophie Turner who looks nothing like Miranda Sanchez and isn't even Latina... we aren't white washing in 2022
My wife and I were Lizzy fans, and based from what we read we’re glad the show didn’t happen. Looked like it was going to have some jerry springer vibes
It's like Disney is intentionally shooting themselves in the foot with these revivals. Kids today don't know who Lizzie is, so why make them your target audience. iCarly realized this, and made an adult show for the original fanbase. And it's successful! Disney did the same thing with Ravens Home and Girl Meets World. It makes no sense to center a revival around the og characters' kids and give them a disproportionate amount of screentime. Kids are fine, but they shouldn't be the focus of the show. I was so disappointed with Girl Meets World for that reason. They had an incredible cast of adult characters who we grew up with and who experienced mature, realistic life scenarios. Bringing these shows back as a childish caricature is just insulting, both for the actors as well as for the fans.
What do you mean? I loved the show! I thought it was going to be terrible and so had very low expectations and maybe that's why I was pleasantly surprised. Regardless, I can totally see this show going a long way. *fingers crossed
