And of course it's a battle of which car brand is the better in the comments section. How about they are both great cars and have their own better and bad sides? This is a fair test. You can blame anything why the laptime came this way. Either the Clio won because it was automatic or the ford lost because it had more fuel in the tank - or even a 'bad driver'. See it for what it is, great video! Kudos
This is nice, the cinematography in these parts few videos has been very very very good, Looking forward to the other hill climb vids. Maybe a A45 vs 7R vs S3
Ashley reminds me of the Stig from the old Top Gear, perhaps Ashely should graduate into becoming the Stig's cousin from SA, he's really good. I enjoyed race 1 and looking forward to race 2.
That is why Renualt put this transmision in clio to make it faster, is it more fun than manual? No, is it still fun and fast? Yes, and to EDC hater, please if you troll it being not "Manual" than don't say it is faster because it is not a Manual, so you can shift faster and smoother.
I just like the fiesta more it's a better car than the renault also the fiesta has been around for a very very long time, and fun to drive is more important than speed...
Good idea guys, this production was excellent. Looking forward to the rest in the series, would have loved to have been there. While I am a bit bised towards Renault, I think that any dual cluctch will make up quite a bit of time on a course like this. The difference between a good DCT and manual can be half a car length or more per shift. But then again a manual is more fun.
Great production value on the video. You guys are really upping your game. Only question is are the times being manually timed by guys with a stopwatch? Surely you guys can afford proper timing kit?
3.4 seconds faster on such a short track, and it's not even the hot version of the Clio. The RS Trophy 220 version would be another couple of seconds quicker. That's a massive difference on such a short track, for two cars of the same type, same weight and same power output. Just proves how much better the Renault chassis is.
Why didn't Clio been in Sport or Race mode?I recon in Sport mode would be fastest.Gear changes are faster in sport mode and throtle response also steering wheel. It could of snatch a 1s or more.
Was this Clio with CUP chassie and suspension or standard you did not mention but it looks like it is not CUP as theese alloy wheels are not 18 inch.I reccon CUP would be faster.
The driver is better with auto boxes, cause he over revs the turbo in Fiesta, he should shift around 6200rpm latest. And also when braking he brakes harder when having paddle downshifts. My point is that at least Clio is not this much faster, trust me. And the new Fiesta ST 2018, that thing will be quicker than Clio Cup, lets wait and see...
RallyVozac it is considering that the clio did that time back in 2015 and the new st couldn’t beat it. St are behind in performance compared to most hatches now.
Even if not the quickest, I 'd definitely take the ST200 over the Clio. There is just no way I would ever buy a semi auto hot hatch.. With no manual available.. what were Renault thinking?
seriously, what driver do you have over there?? Cars.co.za please put me in that ST200, I guarantee I will beat that time. I launch my ST200 at 2500rpm in the dry... this oke launches at 3700/3800 rpm in the damp, muddy surface.. he stood still and spun.. not exactly race car driver material over there.
Hey, Fiesta fanboy, you'll also get the Clio around in a better time as well then. I also love how you failed to notice the fucking horrible start the clio had.
Clio being auto and being launched on a drier surface than the fiesta.. cant do much for it. Since there is less user intervention with any auto - gearbox car. But having said that, I have been around Kyalami in a clio trophy cup and it is a very good handling car. I just think the launch could definitely have been improved for the fiesta. I am a fan boi, and for good reason. See how many Fiesta ST's are out selling the Clio and you have your answer
I think you're right, that Fiesta ST200 should be much closer to the Clio (if not a little bit faster). Even the GT86 was faster which is not normal (especially if they had the factory shitty Michelin Primacy Tyres).
People will say I'm a hater... Not really a fan of the ST. It's nice and retains it's resell value better than the Clio but I'm just not feeling it. It's like Burger King... Does the job, but you'll never see me there. I'll at Steers.
Awfull start and wheelspin with fiesta and you could clearly see how the man stoping the time was a sec late 4 the fiesta! Unbelievable... If thete were aby real curves or corners tough the rrnault would not hVe a chance even wit the 2 mentioned facts...
