I don’t think it was mentioned in the video, but another benefit of the momentum basket is that it has all the benefits of a flywheel weight but since it’s spinning opposite direction of the crankshaft, engine braking is not sacrificed. Flywheel weights can have a tendency to make engine braking slower, and kind of floaty. This can be a deal breaker in some disciplines! I use the momentum basket in my Crf450 flat tracker as engine braking is essential for cornering.
That is good feedback and something I didn't really think about. Thanks for pointing that out and watching the vid. I need to get out and give flat track a go. Looks like a blast! - Chase
Rocky Mountain ATV MC It was pointed out to me when I was looking into getting a flywheel weight and it makes total sense. Flat tracks a blast! If you’re ever in the NW I got a bike for you guys!
Very Interesting idea and concept behind this clutch basket but it’s a bit to high for me and my demands😂 I’m happy with the stock basket so far🤙 Cheers
So Hinson created a basket using steel which is roughly 3 times stronger than Aluminium. They were lazy to optimize this basket and make it the same weight as aluminium counterpart and on top of that they start advertising it as a benefit for a certain bikes.
It's built to OEM specs, so you should be able to run other components designed to work with your OEM clutch. I would reach out to Hinson just to be safe for some added peace of mind. - Chase
