ME!!! I love his facial expressions too - he just can't believe what he's hearing. I feel so lucky to have grown up with this kind of music and musicians. NO AUTO TUNE! Kids today don't know what they missed out on. That's why I love these reaction channels :-)
Reactors are always "bring back this kind of music" and I'm all "it's right here all over the internet!" Here's 20 songs you have to stop and hear right this second lmao.
Remember, NO Auto-Tune, NO Click Track, NO Digital Editing Tools, 100% Talent, lets see today's musicians (and I use the term loosely) do the same thing.
This is what I love whenever I listen to ANY genre of music before 1998 - the vocals took MANY real takes to get it perfect - not 'I will fix it in post after 1 bad take with "autotune". You can clearly hear how smooth and real it sounds!! None of my music has any pitch altering done to the songs as I want them to sound real. Also many of them are a first take and no edits to remove bad bits. So when they are good - they are really that good and best of all REAL!
Every two weeks, another classic album was released. Sooooo many future rock gods were in such a great place. Every album was magic 70s and early 80s glad I was there.
This mate is the cream of the crop..ahhh 70s everything was magical especially the music!!!! I'm so happy you are enjoying a unique time in music history ❤ You are definitely an old soul you appreciate raw talent 😊
Boston, Kansas, Chicago, Foreigner, REO Speedwagon, Toto, America, Journey, Steve Miller Band, Bad Company, Supertramp, ELO, The Cars, The Band, Cheap Trick, Styx, Whitesnake, Golden Earring... The list of great 70s bands is endless
And for something completely different… there were the Talking Heads, Blondie, Roxy Music, The Jam, The Police, Mott the Hoople, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, Elvis Costello, and and and 😜
And now you’re starting to understand why us old farts (63 here) say that our music was better. Because it IS! I was privileged to grow up listening to New York City radio stations in the heyday of FM radio in the 1970s. Spoiled for life! P.S. That was actually three-part harmony, not just a duet.
@badmiddens No question we had the best music. Everything after the 80s is pure junk. Talent was on display in our generation. Now? None of them can really play an instrument, for it is all machines. It is not nonsense.
Great call on “American prog.” Multiple transitions, time signature changes, executed flawlessly. Multiple virtuoso level instrumental pieces woven together. Right there with Yes, Genesis, Pink Floyd, Rush.
When I was 15, I caught my mom rocking out to it and realized she was actually a cool person. Music conquers all the divides! I'm 60 now, and still watching the different ages come together over music.
My kids CONSTANTLY ask me “who is that”. Son was into Death Metal, took him to a George Clinton concert. My boy is converted. My daughters first concert was KISS/Poison
Also from 1976... J. Geils came out with the live album Blow Your Face Out... one of the most iconic intros in the history of rock... Wooba Gooba and Raputa the Buta... ha ha 😜 Rock and roll with a horn section.... and Harmonica... Think Mollyboy is ready for some Magic Dick? (for those that might think I'm being dirty, that was the name of the harmonica player)
Rush 2112 also came out in 1976, definitely a great year for music, but there are a crapload of great bands that came out since then and are around today. All eras have their studs and duds.
Just FYI, the first Kansas album came out in early 1974 as well as their first single, which, as I recall, was called "Can I Tell You Something." Both the single and the album were very cool.
Being old now is the price we pay for being young in the 70s, and i wouldnt have it any other way. Truly a decade of awesome music! Loved your reaction!
Agreed Richard...we saw it blossom and it will rule forever as the Best 3 decades of music..60's through the 80's... With the advent of electric instruments..the creativity was unleashed and experimented with...all the talent was real talent..not auto-tuned...you had to have it to make it...🌿🌿🌿
Molly my boy…you have NO idea what waits for you in the air waves! If you continue on the journey you’ve started, there is nothing but joy and appreciation waiting for you. Will be watching, for sure! Peace.
I’m a 73 year old lady and I sure enjoyed watching your reaction. Just found your channel a few minutes ago. If you haven’t listened to it yet, give Dust In The Wind a listen it’s my favorite song by Kansas. Listen closely to the words. It’s totally different. I think you might like it. That’s just my opinion of course. I hope you continue your journey down the path of songs from yesterday. Take care and be safe and well.
Ahhhh the 70’s. No autotune, no dubbing. Just pure talent and fantastic musicians that had to perform live and always sounded as good, if not better than the studio recordings. Miss it!
Hey MollyBoy. As an Ol' Timer I can't express how awesome it is that you are reacting and enjoying so many of the bands and music that I grew up on. My opinion is that so much of the old school 60's and 70's music was and is the best music ever created. Great to see the newer generation like you getting turned on to it. Carry on my wayward son!
LIFELONG, I MEAN 61 NOW, BEGAN BANGIN' THE KIT @ 4. CELLO & TROMBONE UNDER ONES' BELT ALSO. KEEP ROCKIN'!!!! CHECK ALL GENRES, EXPAND!!!! YOU ARE DOING FINE BRO!!!! ROCK IT!!!!!!!
Another thing about 70’s bands: they WORKED for their success. Album, tour, album, tour. For years. They were truly talented and were not handed a recording contract because they were eye-candy. Feel lucky to be a Gen X and growing up with this music.✌🏻
I really enjoy seeing someone hear this era of music for the first time ever. This was but one tune on the soundtrack of our lives back then. No autotune, no sampling. It was all original. 90% of the music released back then was just this good or better.
Also in the 70's there were no personal computers. There was no autotune. Analog recording is what we had. Six track reel to reel was popular. You had to actually sing and play an instrument and write meaningful lyrics. Talent.
Iconic song which as become the tv series Supernatural theme. The band played this song at the San Diego 2017 convention in Hall H in front of the Supernatural fans. Minds were blown.
In the 70's we didn't computers. smartphones. videos or spotify or you tube. We only had the radio to music! IF YOU want to experience authentic reaction, listen to it w/o the visuals.
Would love to get their reactions hearing it on vinyl thru a high-powered stereo amp, surrounded by the bass from the woofers. A few of us used to hook up literal PA boxes and stage monitors with 15's and compression horns in our living rooms. Ah, those chest compressions...
For anyone that was raised in the 70s like myself...our ears were blessed with this kind of music all the time. Just turn on the radio. Any band that came out with a new song during that era.. had to bring it! The level of talent was so high (i.e., Led Zeppelin, Boston, Kansas, Floyd, Aerosmith, AC/DC, Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Bad Company.....and the list just goes on and on....that there was no room for junk music. Thank goodness we can still listen to it either on our vinyls we still possess.. or on RU-vid. Love watching the younger generations reacting and loving this music. Great reaction ❤
Love to hear Roll Me Away. Molly Boy, gotta do some Bob Seger - especially because I am from Michigan and he is a hometown hero. You got me beat being from Birmingham.
Molly Boy it warms my heart how you connected to this song/music...just imagine when we experienced the new sounds of rock each year..we were glued to radios and headphones for the total rush and celebrated with joy as we drove the highways with freedom in our ears...those were glorious days... Welcome aboard... 🌿🌿🌿
The radio dial was busy in the 70s..elvis still playing, old 50s, 60s/70s, folk, disco, pop, Elton john types, southern rock, hard rock, and the random metal station for priest led and maiden (usually at midnight. For the me the king biscuit hour), and even country. It was AWESOME.
they weren't many rock stations so the dial was set and you listened to what they played.......one song would be soft rock, the next song would be heavy metal, then country then disco.....you didnt get to choose the genre, you just listened and appreciated all types of music.......until rap music and hip hop came out.
An Aussie boomer here. I grew up spending my pocket money on LP records like Kansas’ Leftoverture. There was plenty of crap then too, but there was so much serious quality available. Just watching your face as you discover the music of my generation makes me smile. Thanks Declan.
You’re helping us who appreciated these old songs, really appreciate them the second time around because of new ears listening. I kept waiting as the song was going along for you to get to certain parts and was totally grinning when you had to rewind the intro right away. Great reaction. 😊
When I was in high school this was one of the songs played often on the bus to out of town games. Ahhhhh......real music played by real musicians. Can't beat it.
Welcome to the Kansas rabbit hole!!! An AMAZINGLY talented band that sounds the same in concert as they do on their albums. Truly an outstanding progressive band.
It's awesome watching the grandchildren realize that grandma and grandpa were way cooler than they knew. I really miss going to those concerts in the 1960's and 1970's. I know there's a lot of great bands out there today. But in this old as dirt grandma opinion, the rock music from my generation is just simply unmatched. Great genuine reaction Mollyboy. I could see it in your face just how much you enjoyed hearing and experiencing Kansas for the first time. Keep the great music coming. Howdy y'all from the Great State of Texas 🇺🇸
Kansas is my absolute favorite band. Steve Walsh is the lead vocalist here, keyboards, percussion. Robbie Steinhardt (huge hair) is the violin player and sings lead in some songs. Kerry Livgren is the guitarist (white hair), keyboards, chief songwriter. Phil Ehart on drums. Rich Williams on guitars(tux.), and Dave Hope on Bass. This is the original lineup from 1974's debut album Kansas to Song For America, Masque, Leftoverture, Point Of Know Return, Monolith, Audio Visions 1979. Carry On Wayward Son is from Leftoverture (masterpiece), Dust In The Wind from Point Of Know Return (another masterpiece) Thank you for reacting to my favorite band! By the way, this is Progressive Rock. I hope you react to more. I recommend: The Wall, Miracles Out Of Nowhere, What's On My Mind, Cheyenne Anthem, Magnum Opus, Point Of Know Return, Dust In The Wind, Portrait He Knew, Closet Chronicles, Lighting's Hand, Sparks Of The Tempest, Nobody's Home, Lonely Wind, Can I Tell You, Journey From Mariabronn, The Pinnacle, Song For America, Incomudro-Hymn To The Atman, Icarus Borne On Wings Of Steel, People Of The Southwind, Relentless, Hold On, and Relentless for starters! Great band, great songs! Enjoy!
We were spoiled with music!! I for one took it for granted. Looking back, I see how fortunate we were! Im so happy to see young generations appreciate and making sure this music goes on. ❤️✌️
Dude, Kansas has a pretty large catalog of great songs, I could give you a dozen more you need to hear right now. They were every bit as good live as they were in the studio and was an amazing group of musicians capable of writing songs with lots of progression changes, tempos, and lyrics that could have been poems. Love your channel and love seeing someone getting to hear this type of music for the first time. I see it in your eyes, there ain't no faking that shit and I am jealous that you are hearing these songs for the first time. Keep on doing your thing dude, I really love each reaction you do !
@@billbitterman9487 I was born in 70 so yes but I’m also Gen X and Gen X is from the 70’s. I grew up listening to these bands I didn’t say they were born in the 70’s lol 🤦🏻♀️
There are so many singers you’ve yet to discover. Don’t let genre dictate what you hear. You just heard 2 of the best in these 2 videos. There is MORE. Try new things forever. it’s what keeps me alive.
Can you imagine waking up daily to this, and a myriad of other amazing tunes back in the day? Real talent - real music! None of the pre fab, auto-tuned garbage that rules the airwaves today... So sad what kids have to listen to today... 😠
