A little fun fact, some of the lyrics from this song are actually from Audie Murphy's own poem and the title of the song is the title of Murphy's own book "Hell and Back". My favorite story of Murphy was when he, while wounded and out of ammo, jumped into a disabled tank's machine gun turret and held back advancing Germans for over an hour by himself. Keep in mind the tank was burning so he did this while choking down smoke.It's also said that moments after he climbed out and regrouped with reinforcements the tank's spare shells caught fire and exploded. If that ain't some action movie shit I dunno what is.

The "folk-ish" style you mention is because they wrote it like music you hear in Old-West movies. This was because Audie Murphy acted in a number of spaghetti western movies during his film career. This whole song from the name, to the instrumentals, and lyrics/subject matter personify Audie's life on an insane level which is why it is definitely one of my all time favorites from them.

I have heard of the band Sabaton, but this reaction video is the first song that I have ever heard from the band. Makes me wonder why I haven't made an effort to check it out. I feel like I have missed out.🤯 Thank you Alex!

The two things that cemented this song as one of my favorites by them are the spaghetti western vibe which is just really cool, and the lines "and all along the shore where cannons still roar, they're haunting my dreams they're still there when I sleep" before jumping into the solo, so great.

Alex, fun fact for you: back in 2007 I saw Sabaton live and it was RIGHT before they became really big. It was in a venue for 300 people at MAX, in my hometown Nijmegen (Netherlands). In 2008 I saw them again at Graspop (Belgium) and their crowd was 10,000 or more. After that they only became bigger and bigger. Song tip: Sabaton - The price of a mile
