I almost never write comments in RU-vid but this video is worthy of doing so. Great video, the fact you do screw up demonstrates the organic pattern and song creation process which is a good thing, it shows that it is a creative tool and not a press play and let it do the rest gimmick. Also a really good demonstration of the sampler quality which the vast majority of MC-808 and MC-909 videos seem to leave out altogether. Plus the tune is building a sweet groove by the end :)

@t1mTV 1 - The sequencer on hardware like this can be much more precise than on a computer. A computer is doing dozens of things at the same time as it's playing your sequence - any one of those processes can go nuts and jack up playback. 2 - This thing won't crash when you're playing live. Computers are finicky when gigging live. Clubs and concert halls aren't the best place for computer equipment. 3 - Unless you get an interface like MASCHINE, it's much nicer working on hardware like this

@t1mTV I use both. the funny thing is you'll find a different style of music coming out depending upon the tools you use. Also a lot of people also like the real time sequencing feature where you are playing something with your hands. Makes you feel more like a musician than a producer.

@crazy626 I've gone over this exact same conversation with idiots that think that Photoshop does your drawings and paintings for you. The same philosophy applies here too; once you know how to compose, a computer can be a very effective tool, and it can achieve effects you couldn't any other way, just as Photoshop can do things you can't do on paper or a canvas. They're tools for the artist, and should only be used once you have the basics down. But to censure them is to be a fool.

@t1mTV Realtime control maybe. Dedicated hardware usually dose what its supposed to do allot better than a multipurpose program would and without placing any load on a computer that could be used as a dedicated recording station. Even if you did that though youd need to buy a controller for the same realtime control otherwise your clicking around on the screen with a mouse looking like your checking your email. Also why all pro djs are NOT using lust a laptop with pcdj lol!

I think it would sound better with a more original vocal.. tribe fits too well with that, it makes you beat sound like you biting tribes sound, even though its a dope original beat. Have you released any stuff I've heard? I can tell you've been doing this a while.

I use to rock the MC-303 hooked up to a Keyboard. Shit was sweet. I let my Brother borrow it and it never worked again :-( Shame they don't make the 808 anymore. The 303 was hot butthis is way better.

oh, well, let me answer his question, since you wernt able to do so,DEMO BOTH THE MPC AND THE 404 IN THE STORES AND BUY WHAT WORKS FOR YOU, and buy that. me personally i like the ease of sampling with the 404 no need to go thru a bunch of menus, hit sampling, mark your in and out points, punch yur drums and bass in, bang, dope beats. of course thats my opinion,
