Dr. Jacob Goodin is a professor of kinesiology at Point Loma Nazarene University (PLNU), and holds a PhD in Sport Physiology and Performance from East Tennessee State University. He has over a decade of experience as a strength and conditioning coach and sport scientist from the high school to NCAA Division I levels. In addition to his role as a professor and research mentor, Dr. Goodin directs the Athlete Monitoring Initiative at PLNU, which provides testing and monitoring services to over 200 athletes yearly as well as research opportunities for kinesiology students.

Thank you for specifically highlighting the landmarks are located. Sometimes when looking at a picture it is hard to try to find the different locations so having them shown is really helpful.

Dr. Goodin, This may be my favorite section we cover all semester. I find lots of complications in my lower limb when it comes to mobility and flexibility. I am excited to dive deeper into these next two weeks in class and master the hip musculature, skeletal structure, and its joint actions.

The hip and pelvic girdle is such a detailed area when it comes to what they can do. I feel that seeing the insertion sites directly marked as you go through them really helped clear up where everything is and where it may be going.

Really important refresher! Good to keep in mind especially when working with older people to prevent/rehab hip fractures (that usually have a super high mortality rate!)

It was helpful to see the hip joint broken into segments for the origins of the muscles, i.e. hip flexors originate on the anterior thigh, etc. Seeing how many muscles, bones, and ligaments originate at the hip joint made it clear why it is so stable as compared to the shoulder!

It was very helpful that you included the insertions of different muscles on the certain parts of the pelvis and leg bones. I am currently going over joints and leg muscles in anatomy so having these different groups makes it easier to study and apply.

Thanks for the informative video Dr. Goodin! The hip joint is one of my favorite joints I don't know why, I think because of the fused bones in the hips and the stability! Also my cousin broke his femur when we were little and I will NEVER forget what that sounded like! He was in so much pain.
