@@elliekahl5305 nope 😁✌️ this song is in my top 'must watch people listening for the first time' list. Same with Bohemian Rhapsody, Phil Collins 'in the air tonight' (the live version... The drums, oh baby), Heart 'barracuda', 2cellos 'thunderstruck' (Best. Cover. Ever.), AC/DC or The Dead South 'in hell I'll be in good company'. Just can't stop binging 😂😂😂
@@ngc6603 isn't it amazing that when we were in our twenties and the rock groups were in their twenties that they can actually write such fantastic songs at that age?
The music for 'Dream On' was originally written on a Steinway upright piano in the living room of Trow-Rico Lodge in Sunapee, maybe four years before Aerosmith even started. I was seventeen or eighteen... It was just this little thing I was playing, and I never dreamed it would end up as a real song or anything... It's about dreaming until your dreams come true."
when his voice turns to his trademarks scream and wail while singing Dream On, we can see it just cut straight through you. That's always the reaction for those that listen to this song and a few others of his. Good god the mans got some distinct pipes on him.
Steven Tyler wrote this when he was only 16 or 17 years old. He was feeling the angst of youth and sadness over the end of a summer. It was Aerosmith's first big hit.
"This an Eminem beat?" Damn you got it fast. Most reactors with hip hop backgrounds just pause, asking out loud "I know i've heard this before, where have I heard this before?!"
I'm twice your age and disabled and happily married but I just want to give you a hug. You are deep and growing deeper with what you are doing. Blessings
This is my favorite Aerosmith song hands down. Many hip artists get their music from our rock gods of the past. Aerosmith did a song called walk this way is 1975 (the year of my birth) it's an awesome song, and in 1986 they collaborated with Run DMC and did the song together, which was also fantastic. You have probably heard that version, everybody has.😁
This song was a B side and the A side was doing okay, but slipping in the charts . . . A DJ decided to play Side B and that shot Aerosmith into the stratosphere!!!
I was raised on Aerosmith. They're my all-time favorite band, and I was able to check an item off my bucket list when I saw them live in 2004. And yes, Steven Tyler was still belting those high notes over 30 years after this version you listened to. IMO their best albums are "Permanent Vacation" and "Pump". So much good stuff.
"Train kept a rollin" had the awesome Steve Hunter and Dick Wagner who also did studio work with Journey, Toured with Alice Cooper and Lou Reed. Serious hired guns.
@@HellenKillerProject OH YEAH!! I've been in love with "Sweet Jane" from RnR Animal for more years than I'll admit! Lol and "Heroin" -- amazing guitars!!
@@FloridaRocks Gotta remember Prakash John on bass and even David Johnstone.. For that AC tour... Saw them a few times and it was perfection. Dick Wagner did at least dome work on almost every Alice Cooper record. THE SWEET, Eddie money and Alice Cooper.. On one tour.
Eminem was in elementary school when this was written and performed. (A kid, a baby, just born, whatever. 👈Edited so stop telling me which exact year jeez.
@@Eowyn187 - Nevermind... I was only implying that it probably took Eminem 20 years to get through elementary school... Incidentally, the song was released TWICE and not in one year. The single (3:25) and the "long version"or what became the album version. The first in '73 and the other in '75.
Steven wrote this on a treadle organ, like a church organ with foot pumps. He drove Joe Perry the guitarist crazy playing that repeat over and over all night. The organ used sold at auction a while back. You should see a live version of "Dream on" to catch him hot. Check out the American Idol shows Steven Tyler was one of the the judges on.
@@vickieray I have seen Aerosmith so many times, but they rarely used to do it live. The first time I saw them play this was during the Nine Lives tour, in the late 90's I almost freaked out and double high fived the girl next to me so hard I almost knocked her down lol !!! >>@
Vera Knight-Cvitonavich I think some of their songs were just really difficult to reproduce the magic of the recording studio but “Rocks” was one of my absolute favorite Aerosmith albums ♥️🎸🎤♥️
Aerosmith was a Boston based band and when the Boston marathon bombing happened they went live on espn with a choir. Something I'll never forget watching live
Isn’t it extraordinary how sometimes a young person taps into universal truths that most of us have to live a lifetime to see. If he did nothing else in his life, which is not the case, this contribution to music would elevate Steven Tyler to heights few have achieved. The message of Dream On continues to inspire.
The way I see it is, it comes for a love of the Music. Just like British rockstars didn’t emulate blues to steal from the black man. The adored the music. And it all comes full circle having hip hop sampling rock beats. To me it’s a beautiful thing not “They stole this reeee” Except Ice Ice baby. Fuck that song.😂
I saw Aerosmith live sometime approximately 1986 at what used to be called the Worcester Centrum (Worcester, Massachusetts) and Steve Tyler's acrobatics (both physical and vocal) were Amazing. I also had to escape to the bathroom briefly to stuff pieces of toilet paper into my ears, because it was one of the loudest concerts I ever attended and my ears were literally in pain.
I remember hearing this on underground radio WMMS 100.7 FM. The 1st time I saw Aerosmith they were 3rd or 4th on the billing. This brings back so many memories. I can't believe it took you so long to REACT to this. Thanks and God bless you.
Aerosmith was my 3rd concert back in the 90's and I ALWAYS LOVED THIS SONG..and wen he started singing this 1 omfg I was like omg I SOOOOO love this 1..never realized it was Aerosmith til the screaming part WOW
Love you reaction! Aerosmith was my first concert. I was 14 when this song came out and they were playing in Denver, my brother took me to it..What a fantastic time it was.
We all loved slow dancing to this song back in Jr. High also "Lady" by Styx & "Love Hurts" by Nazareth Hair of the Dog album & Gary Wright's "Dream Weaver"
Just fills my soul to know this music being discovered by the next generation, its already living on, its a blessing many of those who made it are still with us, please, please keep going, you're not even halfway through, Peace ✌
I was nine years old when Aerosmith came out and they got me through the majority of my school years. My two favorite albums of theirs are Rocks and Get your Wings.
I only knew the Asrosmith of the 90s, with the hit love songs. I heard this for the first time a few years ago and couldn't believe it was Aerosmith. Love this song so much.
Aerosmith and Run DMC brought rock and rap together in Walk this Way which you definitely should listen to, and in case you didn't know, lead singer, Steven Tyler, is Liv Tyler's dad.
I grew up listening to Aerosmith, KISS & Led Zeppelin . Great band , now performing in Vegas Back in the Saddle , Kings & Queens , No More , No More & Lord of the Thighs are my recommended ones to review
That was tha vibe in almost everything back then...I credit music back then for how much influence and power it has to bring us all together back then. That 1% bought it out because it seen how much profit there was and turned it into something else.
Great song i have always like Aerosmith Steven Tyler has a lot of passion when I get up in the morning to go to work I look in the mirror and thank all these lines on my face are getting clearer
In 84' I saw Aerowsmith perform this in Middletown NY. It inspired me to eventually leave my corporate job and start working as a Stagehand. 10 years later, I was laying out the Mainstage for Woodstock 94' with the "Dragon", the Engineer for the staging company "
THIS IS THE ONLY SONG IN THE WORLD THAT MAKES ME TEAR ;( : ) EVERYTIME I LISTEN TO IT, IT BRINGS BACK SO MANY MEMORIES THROUGH OUT MY LIFE >>>>>>>>>> : )
I think this is a great song for you right now India where your at in your struggling wt your dreams to make them come true maybe this will give you a lil incentive to not give up and keep fighting for your dreams!!! I hope so you deserve all you want in life and you can have it I have faith in you!!!
I’m a few months late but I just got into reaction channels during quarantine. You’re my fave. You actually listen and react to the lyrics. I love watching people experience new things and enjoying it They have better songs too. Go through their credits. Amazing. Rag doll. Walk this way(either run DMC)
Way back when Aerosmith played Hard Rockin Bluesy music!...They sold out in the 80s jumping on that Commercial bus becoming the 80s sweet little Pop Darlings. The last decent release was Rock in a Hard Place.
