@@WikiZeruel for me it sounds like we have finally arrived at the end of our lives and we reise how fun it was and how those suffering moments we endured don't take away from our happiness.
Her kimono has cranes on it because cranes are said to have a life span of 1000 years in Japanese lore. Also her name literally means 'Millennium Child'... And her surname Fujiwara is 1000 years old, dating to the Fujiwara clan of the Heian period (794 - 1185).
After having listened to various of Hirasawa's best albums I'm convinced the guy's a gift to humanity, really. A true light being from a distant place showing us how his beautiful home is. I strongly believe these feelings he conveys through his music can actually become our future, hopefully. A world where science and spirituality coexist and work together to propel us into a new light era. I'm just, grateful to be alive in this time period along with him, he has shared many beautiful gifts with the world...
@@kensukefan47 dude liking susumu hirasawa does not make you a weeb lmao. people say this same thing about freddie mercury and a MULTITUDE of western artists. he's just very unique and talented and seems to poke at you in just the right way with his music, it's really incredible talent.
Finally. I spent years wondering what this movie was. Trying to return to that distant memory, a decade past, when I saw this mystical scene with this woman running through different eras and times. The cosmos conspired to have me leave before I could learn anything about what I beheld. Thank you Berserk for being great of course but also for leading me to Hirasawa. Thank you Hirasawa for befriending Satoshi Kon. Thank you Mr. Kon for finding me when I was unable to find you. I didn't make it in time to say good bye, and I'm sorry. But if there's one thing I've learned from you, it's that meetings and partings are cyclical. I'll keep looking for you, because I've fallen in love with the search, because I know you'll always be there, just around the corner. Yours Truly, R / H
true, the humor and faces is big part of it tho. like the image dose most of thie speaking you brain is to bussy trying to make sens of all the interesting beautiful cool consepts thrown at you to think to deep over the story to much. like the story is not whats importatnt at all, its the experience of watching it.
Whenever I listen to Susumu's music, I feel like the music is something that I listened to a long time ago, but don't remember when. I feel nostalgic and I don't even remember anything that sounds close to his music. I feel sad and happy at the same time. I feel like my soul is leaving my body. And I feel like I'm getting kissed by an Angel and a Demon at the same time. His music is made up of human emotions.
It's sad. Sometimes music like this seems to enter my whole body, mind and soul for days, sometimes even weeks. I can't describe the feeling, but it's like i'm happy and sad at the same time, aching for something i have forgotten or will never have in my life, and i don't know what it is. At the same time my heart feels heavy and light at the same time and i'm always trying to show people this experience or share my feelings with them. I show them the movie and the song before and after it, but they never seem to get it. I wish i had a person in my life who would feel the same. Feeling enlighted and crushed down at the same time, and yet it's so wonderful to be able to feel this... i'm sorry if there might be any spelling mistakes.
You're not alone. I feel exactly the same as you do. I also desperately am trying to find someone who can feel what I feel. Just remember that you're not alone. There are always people out there who know how you feel. The world is simply too big for any one of us to be experiencing something no one else did.
@@vantablack8468 Glad to hear it, thanks for taking the time to reply. Tbh I'm there off & on too but we gotta help each other up. We'll get it figured out
Michael Pena Same here. The movie wouldn't hit you the same way without Mr. Hirasawa's incredible music. The Hirasawa/Kon combo was minblowing. Too bad Mr. Kon left us too soon. :(
I discovered Susumu Hirasawa because of Paprika. The soundtrack of that movie was just... incredible. So I searched all the songs and they were of this guy, who also composed the soundtrack of another Satoshi Kon's movies. And listening all the songs of Susumu one by one, I run into this one, and WOW. I don't have words to describe it... the vibe, the effects, the voice is omg, this song is one of my favourites. Also, Susume is very versatile. All his songs are different, each one remind me of something different. Susumu takes music in a whole different level. It doesn't have even complicated sequences of chords, it's the effects, how he plays with the sounds... I think that Susumu has a clear idea of what to transmit in any song, and compose it and make it with the right effects is an not very common ability.
Absolutely. When people talk about Satoshi Kon, it's either Paprika, Paranoia Agent or maybe Perfect Blue. While all of those are great (And I think Perfect Blue is his best one), Millenium Actress and Tokyo Godfathers are at least just as good. He passed away way too early.
So soothing. I enjoy most of Susumu Hirasawa's songs because they take me to a whole other place and world and for those few minutes of the song I feel free. My soul literally soars.
This song especially reminds me of the Berserk OST. Heard it? If not you HAVE to check it out! I think you'd like it, because it takes me to that special place you spoke of.
I, this was a sensory overload for me. This song made me look so far back into my life and I can say I genuinely cried, like bawling my eyes out over how beautiful the things I saw and did and how I felt and sensed. For a long time looking so far back was so hard. When the song was over I couldn't believe that something like that could get me, just one song. Life is truly strange and wonderful, and I'm glad I'm living my life.
I saw Millennium Actress for the first time last year, knowing nothing about it other than the short tv description and was instantly hooked. The montage this score is used over, when Chiyoko is running through different eras, is my favourite scene and the music makes it perfect. It still sometimes pops into my head randomly and I love it all the more.
this piece is so transcendent. I wish I could live a life of as much boundless motivation, creative passion, and striving past all suffering as Chiyoko did. to me, that simple purity must be what it means to be alive. staring up at the moon, wanting to recapture your memory of it, to see it within a painting again, only to realize your striving towards it, your relentless forward motion through time and space, through imagined memory, brought you even farther--to walking on the moon yourself. going even further because what you love isn't the destination, its the journey. I don't think I can ever be like that ideal myself, but I know people who are. they are the treasures of this broken reality of ours. I want to treasure them and love them forever.
It's amazing how much the sound and rhythm can move a person regardless of what is being transpired through the lyrics. Music will always be universal.
Susumu Hirasawa's versatility based on his music is astonishing to witness. Once you hear another song from him or something else he composed, it's always attaining a different flow and vibe that ring's distinctively than the last piece of music he composed/sung.
This movie was thing I never knew I needed. There was a gap in my heart but it filled up. I was lost and this movie found me. It was if I was walking through a foggy forest and I suddenly came across a cabin.
Just finished watching the movie. The scene where Chiyoko was going through different time eras with this song playing in the background was pure gold! One of my favorite scenes from Millennium Actress. Satoshi Kon and Susumu Hirasawa made one hell of a duo!
It's a less hollywoodian love letter to cinema, how both history and stories melt to forge our past and our vision of the world; it's heartbreaking, with a deep feeling of fullfilling and inner emptiness
This song is the definition of hope. At least it is to me... I don't know why. When I listen to this, I just get the feeling that everything will turn right somehow. I'm so thankful to Hirasawa and I'm glad that I discovered his songs
This theme is the most beautiful part of being an actress, it contrasts a lot with the most horrible part of being an actress, Perfect Blue and Millennium Actress are sister films, so similar, but at the same time so different
The title fits so well. Getting through half the film, the energy that emanated from this soundtrack flowed through me. I fell in love with it the moment I heard it. It makes me so glad to finally take a trip through all of the works that Satoshi Kon has touched on. What a trip so far!
Your legacy will forever be remembered through your works. Few other artists and writers can come close to the pure masterclass work of Satoshi Kon. Thank you for the movies and the memories
I found this movie at the beggining of the year, I haven't been able to watch it but this sung stuck with me Now it's November 17th of 2017, and this song still gives me the same feelings it makes me feel liberated. It reminds me of how young I am, at the age of 16. I'm still just a young girl, and I hope I always remain with the soul of a young girl. Thank you, Satoshi Kon, for teaching me that my soul doesn't have to age with my body. And thank you, over all, for teaching me that the best part of dreams is not achieving them, but chasing after them. I hope you're having a good afterlife, if there is one. Virtual Vow to you, all the way from my corner of the world.
i just came back to this, 1-1-2019 at 12:45 am i'll be turning 18 in july and i'm going to college in august. so i guess this is really my last bunch of months as a kid. Thank you for being part of a priceless childhood, Satoshi Kon. Once again, virtual vow to you, wherever in the cosmos you may be.
@Cyrix I'm about to turn 18 in a couple of weeks, and I came back to this song cause of the nostalgia. I'll keep your advice in mind, and try to never forget my inner child. I hope you have a good life, stranger :)
Does anyone realize how RU-vid is getting shittier everyday? More ads, unskippable ads, even ads in the middle of videos? Well I kinda forgive RU-vid for all of that because it recommended me this song, I've been looking for it since I watched Millenium Actress.
I know it's been a while since you commented; but if it means anything (and you happen to be using a computer, not a phone), then I recommend the browser extension Ublock Origin. RU-vid ads used to be a nuisance. I'll just say it makes music more of an immersive experience. P.S. The same can be accomplished with most ad-blocking browser extensions (to my knowledge).
Satoshi Kon is a great director and creator, and in combination with Susumu Hirasawa, they make some of the most impactful films. rip Satoshi, his movies will always stay
I swear, Susumu music paired with Satoshi Kon's works gave us some phenomenal movies. Ones that gave messages, gave inspiration, and addressed society issues(of course in methods that made us have to watch because "What the hell is happening" must have crossed everyone's mind the first time they saw Perfect Blue or Paranoia agent). Satoshi Kon's films are immortalized in my mind. Millennium Actress made me cry, Paprika fueled my sense of adventure, Perfect Blue affected me in a way I can't explain, and his show Paranoia Agent started me on this adventure. I have not yet found a way to watch his other works but if I can find it, Tokyo Godfathers is next the list.
I listened to Susumu's "Rubedo" and I noticed the "Run" reference in the comment section. I listened to "Run", loved it and I decided to watch the movie. I experienced three pieces of true art in such a sort time that I feel overwhelmed. Also, this picture makes so much sense after you watch the movie. A masterpiece indeed
The only music i can listen to while reading vagabond. It was also nice to know he does paprika and berserk of course beserk forces is what got me loving his music.
It sounds beautiful, I looked into the song this is based off of, Rubedo by the same composer, and the part you’re referring to is based off of a Burmese temple chant, absolutely beautiful
I never saw the movie, but this music give me a sensation of freedom, release and tears of joy. I have the image of someone running and smiling and crying at the same time. It's really cool !
