Horsepower Enthusiast you should check out a band called death. Now it should be noted that there are 2 bands called death but one is comprised of all black dudes pretty killer rock and roll from Detroit if I’m not mistaken
It's hard to find Black people into metal. And even harder to see black people in metal bands. But believe me, we are out here thrash'n, mosh'n, and headbang'n!!!! Just remember, it's not about the skin color. It's about the Metal and those horns in the air!!!!
+Jason - TheMetal_King For sure - I used to see him hanging out at all the best Thrash Metal shows in LA back in the 80's, always supporting the scene.
It was GREAT growing up in the 80's.... I consider myself very lucky. Good to see thrash bands still carrying the torch! I am really digging Warbringer and Hatchet recently.
***** I didn't have a vehicle in the 80's - I don't drive. Lol And I hated most things about the 80's other than the thrash metal and hardcore punk that came out in that era. There were some good movies, but a lot were cheesy. I liked the early 90's best out of any time period in my life, but after Kurt Cobain killed himself that decade went downhill fast.
Yeah they have a great not-taking-themselves-too-seriously vibe coming across.. refreshing yet its deceptive cause when the music gets going you can hear how utterly committed they are. Great stuff.
Katon, like all of us, has his influences however he stands alone with his Sonic assault, he is and always will be a true metal legend as will the band HIRAX I f****** love these dudes
Just had Hirax and Ghoul play a party in our backyard! Shit was off the hook!! Helluva turnout and not one fight broke out surprisingly. Usually we’re extinguishing 8 brawls per show. But this had an awesome turnout! Katon is a solid dude!!
I'm back in the 80s. He has a Bobby Blitz Ellesworth vibe, or rather his voice reminds me of old Overkill. Music also reminds me a bit of Handle with Care era Nuclear Assault.
Ozzmaster2112 I missed out on Hirax the first time around so I'm kind of playing catch up with what they've done, but I like what I heard so far. Any albums you'd like to recommend for me to check out?
I remember my friend bought the Raging Violence LP when it came out in 85?. We were sophmores in high school. He liked Pushead and his artwork and bought it just to check it out. He liked it, so did we, but made a bit of fun of him from straying from the Metallica-Slayer-Exodus-Megadeth-(and sometimes Anthrax) loop - that and a thrash metal singer with an afro - BUT years later I've come to appreciate Hirax and all their stuff. It's punch yourself in the face fucking brutal It's like an Evel Knievel jump/crash... They haven't changed much over the years and in this case, It's an absolute excellent thing.
Katon is striking the most important and imposing pose in all of heavy metal metal that was perfected by Dan Lilker: The Evil Grapefruit Squeeze pose @ 3:20
here are some more bands: - Suffocation - Killswitch Engage - God Forbid - Unlocking the Truth - Skindred - Sepultura - Sevendust - Straight line stich We also have a small "Black Metal" band from Africa called "Demogoroth" (Black Metal, oh the irony :D ) And let us not forget one of the greatest and influential metal/rock guitarists of all time, "Jimi Hendrix" and Slash from "Guns and Roses" ;)
I'm 54 and my wife is 55 and we love this group Big Time and we are Christian and we are Pro-life and we are agains abortion okay letting you we are Pro-life okay
haven't haerd of Hirax before. Found it because of the old Ron of Metallica. I'm a fan of Exodus, Slayer, Forbidden, Heathen and many more, and I must say I'm impressed by the drummer. Riffs ok- vocals not my style. No wonder why I haven't heard of them before. But the name is spreading- that must be a good thing.
Hirax es una banda de culto, de esas que nunca perdieron su esencia y hasta el fin de sus días seguirá siendo auténtica, cosa que muy pocas bandas pueden decir. Aguante Hirax...!!!!!!
A' met the man back on the 80's California, l.a long beach thath is. You bump with the dudde, allmost everywere! Conserts,récord stores, back yard party's. As a Mexican in the mouvment, i never felt discriminated, neather Katon.we were true metal mongers and have passion for it! El diablo negro!!!!!the mexican iron gang 🇲🇽♠️☢️☠️🔗🛠️⚒️
Eh it sounds more "radio friendly" compared to the first two releases of Hirax. Scott Owen was the best guitarist for Hirax. He composed timeless thrashers.
The vocals are about 1 semi-tone off,.. which is pretty much the MOST out of tune you can get. - It's painful to listen to. It sounds like a tone-deaf HELSTAR.
Dude, you don't have to be musically accomplished to hear the disparity between the key, and where his voice sits. Yes i can sing, and yes quite well,... but obviously you're committed to being critical of me, because i've said something you have an emotional connection with is bad, so you're waiting to return the favour. listen to Helstar instead.
