Growing up with the beauty that is the Amiga and watching my dad play these games back before W95 was a thing. Awh man the Amiga games had some of the best all time tunes.
I always remember watching this game and never playing it - when we had our amiga I was a little too young to get it (I was about 4 or 5!) but I loved the look, the idea, the music. Now I'm tracking down a place where I can "get a hold of it". As I love retro gaming and wandered what this would be like!
favourite game of all time...remember this with 3 mates around the machine. Was my amiga so always got to be Cim :D Fantastic music and atmosphere...all the manuals you got with the game added so much to it. they don't make 'em like this anymore..
I would love to see this universe and characters expanded more deeply. Maybe in the form of a graphic novel because I don't know how you could top this game!
There's a beta of the unreleased Hired Guns 2 floating around the internet. Haven't tried it for myself, but it looks like it features many of the same characters.
Christ this brings back memories - loved this game back in the day. Remember many days lost playing this with 2 mates around a keyboard vying for control lol.
From way back in the day, it seems I remember: There wasn't really any point in not selecting the most combat capable characters, was there? So ... CIM, and CIM-lite, and the marine dude, and who ever comes closest after that, I think the last two would be Kiurchner and Siygess. More health, better weapons. As far as I recall, anyways. I always played as Clavius though, because I felt he had the coolest story - and name.
Even now this tune still holds it's own compared with PS2,3 Xbox gaming music 1126thmp agree it was ahead of it's time. I remember Hard coding Copper lists ( Co_proccessor ) myself and programming the good old "Blitter" in Machine Code. Those days have certainly gone.
I think a major factor is that there's so many people (and money) involved in games development today. HG was done by just a few people, primarily one guy if I've understood it correctly.
Okay... I was looking at the Mech.. MIYRIEL TORRE Born 2612, New Europe. Miyriel led a very sheltered and otherwise uninteresting life for a long time. When she was informed that she was wasting slowly away from a rare disease for which there was no cure, she immediately squandered the entire family fortune on getting a complete body replacement. Essen- tially she is now a cyborg. Her brain is all that's left of the original but it remains as sharp as ever.
Wow....one guy! thats amazing! The amount of time and skill, effort needed to pull this off by one person...thats a true achievement in my books! Okay...so more people involved in the development process means the single developer intensity & idea can often get diluted and lost ...leading to lackluster games being produced?
I loved this game, My brother, two mates and I played it to death, most of the characters were referred to by name, but we always called Cheule 'Sweetcheeks' for some reason...........
