The fact that Anthony can murder 6-strings of bass AND balance his pick on his mouth without dropping it or swallowing it during the whole song is something worthy of the utmost admiration.

We truly live in the golden age of jazz. Efforts like this prove it. Hiromi's music is accessible and challenging at the same time with elements of swing, modern, and metal. Charisma and chromaticism with a decidedly rhythmic approach that is hypnotic.

Simon, Hiromi and Anthony are simply in another level, it's amazing how complex these compositions are and they nail it everytime. Simon Phillips it's my favourite drummer of all time, I wish to see them live someday.
Johnny G : In 2011, I saw Simon and his beautiful "Sunburst" Tama with Philippe Saisse on piano and Pino Palladino on bass at The New Morning Club in Paris. We were sitting ten meters from him and my gosh, what a fantastic and impressive drummer ! But also a simple and nice guy, always laughing and joking with his pals on stage as with the public ! Not three unbearable "stars" only here for the money. Just three wonderful musicians who offered us an unforgettable evening...

I used to love watching Anthony Jackson kill it with Michel Camilo and Horatio Hernandez back in the day, so I'm not surprised that he would end up playing in another fabulous pianist's trio.

For everyone wondering about the quality of the sound, why the bass seems "lost in the mix" or why the piano sounds like its "underwater," I'm pretty sure its just a byproduct of recording a huge venue, live. With all that sound bouncing around, its hard to capture pure, studio-like quality. Besides, I think their talent shines way brighter than the audio discrepancies...
There would not be a six string bass without Anthony Jackson. I love this video because these are all older players, who are proving they can still set the world on fire!

+Rachid van Heyningen Hiromi may be Camilo's granddaughter, both are great! They are two types of different genres Camilo is more Caribbean and Afro-Cuban jazz. No doubt Camilobis great. But the level of execution here and the musical memory is not comparable to any previous project. Hiromi Jackson and Phillips is something else. Is not the next big thing, is the present big thing!
First time I heard Hiromi was 2008, Beyond Standard and it was not my cup of coffee. but THIS ?!... holy shit, it sounds so fucking good it blew me away so glad it appeared in my recommendation list
Is that thick bass a hollow body? Must be! Such a gorgeous trio. Suddenly goes be-bop and switch back to contemporary. Anthony's walking bassline is so good.
