What you mean is that you personally don't like music played out of key. There is no god of key signatures, determining what sounds good and bad. It's all subjective. Hiromi is heavily influenced by fusion, for which "playing outside" the key is an essential part, and for some, this is the most exciting and stimulating part of the music.
While I respect that opinion I have to say as far as my tastes go and i'm sure at least some other people agree, sometimes more is more. I love listening to her and almost any other musician play like this. It's bold and risky, technically fantastic, and as far as "sound" goes I love it. She's like a piano version of an 80's guitar virtuoso to me, and that sound is nothing to be ashamed of. I say all of this only to display another opinion for those who might agree with me.
i think FUZE is a teacher in berklee... so he can play straight jazz... with no effects... you can't be a faculty member of that school if you're just an average jazz player... this guy is a heck of a player... one of my idols...
@javaramp hmm that was planned. Why? 4 people can't 'fail' at the same time. If you're looking for glitches, you missed it by a second: check the guitarist in 1:39 instead :-) ok, switch off tech mode now and just enjoy!
let's not get confused with blue notes and out of key here... a blue note adds colour, but should always be treated as a passing note... debussy constantly refused to keep to the rules of music, constant changing of key, harmonies that didnt resolve, but the laws of melody and its links to harmony were still observed
Whether Fiuczynski sounds good or not is up for legitimate debate, but it's indisputable that you should never encourage the audience to clap for your solo like he does at 5:38.
@brunoguitar88 Frank Gambale? Hutchings is a great choice, but Id liek to se Greg Howe, Hiromi, Chambers, Sakurai make an album...that would be insane.
Would someone let me know why the drummer in this session is not Martin who is an original member ? Does anyone know why ? Anyway this drummer is also good, though and a bit more powerful I assume.
***** Not sure if anyone 'dumped' anybody. Dave has a certain musical style: microtonal work, eastern influences etc. All of which is very nice, nodoubt; but perhaps Hiromi just wanted a different flavour for her other albums. Nothing wrong with that.
hahaah all bassists have those caps. besides me. but WHY? :D i know so many that do.... do they come with fodera and other expensive basses or smth? lol
Even though Im on your side here MsJustMatter I've got to concede that Fuze's solo in this version was like...superrrr frippy and also just not one of his best efforts. Don't get me wrong its great...just not one of HIS best.
niesu spravne, vsetky tie akordy su vlastne septakordy so zvacsnou nonou, musis si tam najst ale tie spravne rozklady a tu melodiu co tam hra, a ten rytmus... silene :D
to the dudes not followin what the guitarist is up to - check out screaming headless torsos. Or whatever other project he is currently involved in. You guys are just sadly undereducated^^
Yea, Mr. Clean is good on the 7 string, but IMO he tries a little too hard to grab the attention away from the real star of the show - Samurai Princess of the keyboard...
You clearly don't know who "FUZE" is... he's totally joking around! You might wanna do your research on music before 2010 before you put your foot in your mouth again.
