His first ADV bike! Suzuki vstrom 650 - BMW F800GS 

LOVE my DL650 and it has earned it … The Strom is NO dirt bike BUT it is the best all-around touring, commuting, shopping bike and, even though I now have a KTM 690R, I still ride my Strom 80% of the time. … GET ALL SW MOTEK MODS … Get the hard side cases and the crash bars … I never did get a bash-plate and the only time I miss that is when I jump up and down curbs. … If I had to sell one of the two bikes, it would have to be the KTM because the Strom does so many things, SO well. … Don't sell it … Keep it in your stable. … I would rather have the Strom than the BMW … Serious.

Hey guys. Nice vid. I bought an 09 DL650 about 8 months ago and I love it to bits. It's great for the rough Ozy country back roads and great in the twisty stuff too. It easily keeps up with the pack of more sportier bikes I sometimes ride with. I have done exhaust and air intake mods to sharpen it up a bit as well as the sw motech crashbars and panniers. I changed the back sprocket by 2 teeth to make it a little taller (600rpm at 100kph). I also got some adjustable foot pegs on e-bay. Those v-twins need some protection though with the oil cooler and filter where they are. I got a bash plate from an ozy company called B&B off-road which is the most solid I have ever seen. I am also lucky enough to have a mate that works for Barkbusters who helped out , which are much more solid than standard. I just put a set of Pirelli scorpion trail 2's on which are more road orientated so it will be interesting to see how they go. It had Tourances on it when I got it and they were great. I have had a few different bigger bikes over the years but this thing does everything pretty well with the added bonuses of being really good on fuel and cheaper to register than a 1000cc. Like you I bought it at a good price so I had some left over cash to buy some bolt -on goodies. I love this bike and can't see myself getting rid of it. I will get others but this one stays.
