🗣️ 🎶 A famous Russian voice teacher gaped at her screen, paused, took off her glasses, wiped her eyes, looked into the camera and burst out laughing ! Back.." I can't believe it !" shaking her head, "Only Dimash" laughter "he's a joy.." A revered old folksong sung by generations of Kazakhs and Russians, jazzed up.

Exactly! Its an old beautiful folksong, and he played with the second part doing it the Dimash-jazz-version! 😎😎 I LOVE seeing him letting loose, having fun..!! And YES. Somehow he IS getting even more handsome.. 😅👏🩵🩵🩵

❤ Dombra, the instrument, played from time immemorial by the Kazakh nomads of the steppes, it's 2 strings made of horsehair and gut. His beloved Grandfather, a Master Player, honored by his government and considered a "national treasure", taught him as a little boy to play the dombra and chess. They played both together all his life, until his Grandfather's recent death.

I really don't understand how Dimash learns new songs for performances in China and decides to recompose a folk song while he's there. Like he isn't busy enough. 😆 Speaking of handsome.... Dimash performed just 2 days ago at the "Greater Bay Area Music Exhibition" in China. He sang the theme of a movie. He first sang it in 2017 as his first released Chinese song. The dombra aka dombyra is a lute-style instrument. It is an ancient and quintessential piece of Kazakh culture and identity. In its most popular form, the dombra has two-strings strung down a long, skinny neck and a pear-shaped body, flat at the front and rounded on the backside.

As part of the “Beauty and Harmony” program, Dimash delighted the audience in China with the Kazakh song Dudarai composed by Bakhytzhan Baikadamov. Dimash was accompanying himself on dombra and piano to perform the traditional song in jazz style. It was really amazing to see on stage a new facet of his multiple skills, always on point!! 🔝❤️🎤🪕 👉 The dombyra (домбыра) is a lute-style instrument. It is an ancient and quintessential piece of Kazakh culture and identity. In its most popular form, the dombyra has two-strings strung down a long, skinny neck and a pear-shaped body, flat at the front and rounded on the backside. The dombyra is, in fact, so important to Kazakh national identity that there is a popular saying: “Naǵyz qazaq qazaq emes, naǵyz qazaq - dombyra” (Нағыз қазақ қазақ емес, нағыз қазақ - домбыра), which, translated, means “A real Kazakh is not a Kazakh, a real Kazakh is a dombra.” 💙💛🔝🌹🌹❤️🎤👏👏👏

Anyone who plays an instrument (like me, who plays keyboards) notices the technical quality of Dimash's arrangements: In the part where he harmonized the melody with a funk-jazz arrangement he could use the classic jazz-bebop scale (with the augmented fifth) but, based on the positions of his hands on the keyboard and the sound, we can see that he enhances the music using inverted chords, increases augmented fourths and sevenths and explores variations of the mixolydian mode, these are complex chords that demonstrate what an excellent vocalist, musician, instrumentalist and arranger Dimash is!

He shared that, at the age of 5, he had a VHS of a concert by Maestro Domingo. He dreamed from then to now to meet and work with the Maestro. This was part of a program called Virtuosos, which supports young classical artists. Dimash was invited to be a judge on the program by Maestro Domingo. I know he appreciated the opportunity to support young artists. We are all do proud of him and hope all his dreams come true. Dimash learned this in one day and had only one rehearsal.
