Worth noting that there wasn't a rule that expressly forbid this type of activity. So while not fair play or good sportsmanship, it wasn't technically cheating. Alisa is obviously a Patriots fan. To balance it out, Kay only took four tanks to race after their flag tank, to even it out at five tanks apiece, rather than bring all of her remaining tanks.

The show doesnt really have any politics, which is rare for a ww2-adjacent japanese anime (ask me about how the Kancolle Anime rewrites history so japan wins midway). Its good wholesome fun all around. As a historian you'd enjoy it and i'd even suggest a series where you review each episode. The youtube tank god man himself Nicholas "The Chieftain" Moran was a consultant on the show. All the members of the history club are references to historical figures, with the yellow haired girl being rommel based. It just happens to be the only one we notice in the west. Plus nazi uniforms are fucking aesthetically boss, in more ways than one. They did a mountain of awful shit but you cant fault their style.
There is some politics in it (for example, the Japanese song 'Yuki no Shingun' is actually antibelicist and was forbidden during the war) but is light hearted and subdued, not 'in your face'
@@tonyvan8688 its okay while the movie basically has them also winning Guadalcanal I would point out S1 and the movie were more along the lines of the game where its ww2 ships fighting abyssals and with allied ships these days. Season 2... well season 2 they set in 44/45 going from Leyte Gulf to basically Ten-Go and it dont go well for them.
I mean, why would one want realism for this genre anyways. It's cute girls - which is cool enough, in a relateable school environment - which is cool if you like slice of life, playing with tanks - which is cool per se. There is no need for it to be overly realistic - it only needs to be appealing and interesting enough so it is entertaining. If one wants total realism, a japanese slice of life action hybrid thing anime with tank riding girls _might_ be the wrong place to look. It also has a banger OST.

I have found, in my course of finding good historical content, discovered this at the behest of my girlfriend. It is surprisingly good, especially, especially the original Japanese voice acting, as the English dub does significantly reduce the amount of historical content, strategy and general intelligence of the characters surprisingly enough. Sure, it is not the most engagibg plot nor has the most intriguing characters. You should not expect a magnificent masterpiece of oriental art direction from this. Furthermore, as stated, it is not the most historically accurate, given the tanks speed around like they are bloody go-karts. Yet, in my humble opinion, first of all, it was created with historical accuracy in mind, at least to a certain degree, and the writers, directors, producers, and other contributers had a passion for history. Furthermore, I think something much more important is that it bridges the seemingly impassable gap between anime fans, or even more casual individuals, and history. Like my girlfriend for example. Plus, I just appreciate it because it is better than 90% of the bloody waste Hollywood produces, so my positive ranking stands. Warning though, this does have the possibility of triggering your anime arch.

NGL. I'm a History Buff and Anime fan. This is one anime that I really enjoy watching. Fun Fact the one who produce these are Tank Nerds. This Series is the Most Nerdiest Anime I've ever seen. If you dont believe Watch it 10 times and Find the small reference (Promise you they're tons of reference.)
to make this more amazing. this was an original anime. meaning it had no source material ie manga to work from. so all the details information etc was painstakingly researched then the anime created. the manga(s) came later after the success of the show. this shows how much love the whole team had for the history. also fun fact fumikane shimada drew the characters for this show. also involved in a lot of other military themed anime (strike witches andi its spinnof) imagine the dedication to delve so deep into the history of tanks in ww2 to not only do the main tanks but also in the shop all the models are dead on accurate and there are a loooot of them lol.
i just got reminded how much i love this series... and i wouldn't even consider myself an anime fan in general... besides evrything i love, the one thing i respect the most, is that they are not afraid to ridicule the japanese team and their respective tanks... evry nation/team/school is represented in an brilliant and hilarious stereotypical way with their ups and downs :) Katyusha best character! :D saw the series like 2 years ago and no lie, just today listened to "their" version of "Katyusha", which i blast atleast once a week xD ahh! so thats why youtube brought me here xD
Long time no see. So this is actually my favorite anime of all time. As it goes the battles get really impressive and crazy. Like it would shame the fast and furious movies. It is worth watching because this guy is only in in for the tanks when there is a lot more. I have an issue with him calling out the crews though. 1: they don't know what they are doing in the tanks yet, so they need time to organize. 2: these are tank on tank battles. They don't need people to crew the machine guns.

Yeah, the show is loaded with references. Things like the German school showing up unexpectedly because they took their tanks through the forest, or how the slow rate of fire of the Firefly plays into their victory over Saunders. The video does have a few mistakes, though. The US did have a Firefly. They got one from the British for testing purposes. It was never used in active service, I believe returned to the British, and for that, along with a later reference saying the Sanders team actually has several Fireflies, I can let that slide. The second mistake is bigger. The tank in the picture in the background of the tank cafe is not the British A-39 Tortoise, but the US T-28 super heavy tank. Heck, it even says T-28 at the bottom of the poster. And you can drift tanks, if the conditions are right. You can find footage of it on RU-vid. Since these are WW2 tanks moving at a much higher rate than their historical counterparts... Also added tidbits that he kind of leaves out, probably because he's watching the dub. The reason why the sport is "safe" is because the tanks have some type of carbon coating inside that stops the rounds, so the show can happen without a massive body count. Maho also mentions that it is safe to not button up because people rarely get hit. Mind you, this is while explosions are going off all around, tanks routinely get flipped on their side, tanks drive over tanks, and they use their machine guns from time to time.

Ok just to clear things up despite some characters have blonde or red hair & blue eyes every character on this show is 100% Japanese. Even in the schools that have the stereotypical sterotypes.They also live on giant aircraft carriers the size of islands. So yeah, that looks like countryside but they're all on ships. So why not make the Japanese looking Americans realAmericans or the British looking Japanese real British? Because, Japan.
SUPER NICE, I would prefer watching this show with little to no background info, but Potential History's video did get more people into the show which is good.
One thing that Potential History skips over is if you continue the final scene shown at 7:35, the zoom out shows not just the School but the entire "City"...Which is on top of a converted Aircraft Carrier....that was why they where returning to school in a ship...their school that is getting shut down is a converted Aircraft Carrier, the whole city is there to support the school. And no this is not some post apocalyptic world where the land is not habitable, they live there because by choice to better educate their kids. The reason Tankery is a bunch of girls, in world, is because it is on Par with Tea Ceremonies and Flower Arranging as a sport for fine young ladies. The ONLY thing this show take seriously is making sure the world's internal logic makes sense, the tank designs, and making sure EVERY other School Ship is a total stereo type of the country they represent...even the Japanese school when they get to them.
The speed of those tanks kinda understandable. Did he look at those ww2 tanks that being modernized by some countries? Had he seen those french ww2 tanks being modernized by Singaporean military? Speed of those tanks now is rediculous. Americans should at this also. It might surprise them. Not all countries can just develop tanks and be done with it. You might check those clips also

Always avoid dubs for your initial viewing, but don't go all purist weeaboo and know that some dubs are pretty good and can give you more time to enjoy the animation instead of reading the whole time. Both modes have their place.

The explanation is that tanks combat is basically reduced to a contact sport, and yes it is heavily implied that deaths aren't unheard of though the episodes I saw didn't have any. There was also a throwaway line that boy's high schools have submarine combat but I don't think they ever elaborated on that.
Nobody tell him about Strike Witches. But seriously, if you liked Demon Slayer and Naruto, there's plenty more you would like out there. Just don't go looking for something as advanced as Strike Witches, it may just put you off anime altogether. You gotta ease into that shit. Try Gate if you like military stuff.

So according to the show why they "Don't Die" is they use specialized rounds that have lower penetration and kevlar lined crew compartments to catch and spalling or rounds that do somehow penetrate.
