More Lemmino videos. His content is top notch quality over quantity.

Lemmino is incredible, I've been watching him for years. All his videos are not linked with history, but I really advise you to react to "The search for DB Cooper" and "The dyatlov pass case"

I’m guessing they knew about the trade winds by the time that those settlers traveled to North America and going that way was easier than going straight across with their sails.

I can trace my line to John White. When I was younger I got a chance to read some of his diary. It doesn't answer any questions, but does leave things very open ended. The impression I've always gotten was he himself never knew for sure what happened because he wasn't allowed to investigate further. We may never know what happened to the colony.

There is actually a popular indie roleplaying game called Everyone is John haha. img.4plebs.org/boards/tg/image/1377/34/1377343288798.pdf You'd love some of Extra Credits history's videos, they really contextualize narratives well. One of the best series that I knew nothing about was the South Sea's Bubble, also their shorter ones on Urbino, the Christmas Truce, Saragahi, and the Berlin Airlift are amazing. Also pretty much everything by Historia Civilis but I think you know him already.

They do that for the trade winds, look up the directions of winds its pretty consistent over water

2:08 the route would look a bit more direct on a globe as apposed to being flattened out for the maps purposes. But keep in mind, during trans atlantic crossings, you were more or less at the mercy of the prevailing winds, while also having to avoid icier waters to the north.

And the currents. The gulf stream had a huge impact on sailing routes at the time, they just didn't really know why at the time.

They actually found out I think recently where the Roanoke colony went I don’t remember where it was but I know they found signs of them being there

The trade winds were the only way to get across the ocean. Without engine's they relied on the wind to carry you.
