I'm american , live there, have a wonderful family , support my barangay, my family's family. I'm not rich I'm not proud of how America has treated the philippines, not proud of americans who live there and act superior. I consider myself a citizen right next to my Philippine neighbor. Mistakes: 1. Spanish Anthem only lasts until 1898, not 1901 2. 5:39 It wasn't our official National anthem, but this 'Bagong Lipunan (New Society)' considered it as our second national song popularized during our late President Marcos.

The Japanese massacred the Spanish speaking community in ww2, and after the war The Lhilippines experienced a surge of Patriotism and Nationalism which promoted our own language over spanish until it's eventual abolishment as a language taught in schools in the year 1975.

What you featured in the video (from 05:36 to 08:03) is a song called "Awit sa Paglikha ng Bagong Lipunan" (A Hymn on the Creation of the New Society). The song was composed during the time of former President Ferdinand Marcos to encourage Filipinos to embrace the new social order being created back then. Nevertheless, the National Anthem was NEVER changed since our independence in 1946. Hence, the part of the video showing the "national anthem" of the Philippines from 1972 - 1986 is wrong.
I wish the Philippines will include the Spanish anthem to the official lyrics of the anthem. Maybe singing the Spanish version after the Tagalog version.
I'd like it more for when we interact with Spanish-speaking countries like in a sports match or diplomatic context. Also, they should come out with recordings of all three versions by a proper orchestra and choir.
Why would we, we are already an independent nation and there is no need to bring back our colonial past. The Filipino words used in the anthem hit deeper and is more patriotic.

This is the song under the reign of President Ferdinand Marcos, "Bagong Lipunan", it was not meant to replace the Philippine anthem but a propaganda by the Marcos presidency. I agree with you it sounds communist sounding as a matter of fact, the words couldn't be farther from communism because the words were advocating that there is a new society, hence the title bagong lipunan or new society.

What you will hear from 5:33 section is the de-facto national anthem of the Philippines. Therefore this anthem was not installed as a de-jure anthem of the said country and the recent anthem did not changed at the same time.
