Doesn't matter if she saw herself as goth or not; her bands' music was hugely influential on the gothic rock genre and there were hordes, really hordes of new wavers/goths who looked and dressed like her. So much she changed her look out of spite in the late 80s (and they still copied her, regardless)

I love looks like this and used to only wear my makeup in this kinda style but using gel eyeliner. It wasn't in the 70s (more like 2000s) but I just happened to gravitate towards a gothic or punk style for the eyes when I performed on stage with my band. I later learned that is was a 70s punk style which is fantastic either way. ;)

Actually punk started at CBGBs in New York City. The New York Dolls, Iggy and The Stooges and Suicide where around in 1969. However in 1974, The Ramones were the first band to be officially be labeled as punk because they inspired the creation of Punk Magazine, which was created to cover all of the CBGBs bands. Punk in England didn't start until 1976.
@loonerninjaowl

And to add to your point early punk was much simpler, my dad was a punk a he said that "we just wore bin bags and messed up our hair, it really pissed of my parents" the make up and awesome close came a bit later.
@jessiefox3739
@jessiefox3739 9 лет назад
Vivian and Malcome Mc Clarion were the ones who came up with most of the fashion that is associated with punk, especially the S and M and bondage wear. The Ramones wore black leather motorcycle jackets, ripped jeans, ripped t-shirts, Black Converse sneakers and hair that covered a lot of the face. The safety pin thing was started by Richard Hell of The Dead Boys.
