I'd like a historically accurate video of the 1980's power suited, shoulder padded, acrylic nails wearing, permed business woman. You know-- super harsh blush worked up into the temples, way too much eye makeup, etc. Inspiration: the Golden Girls, Designing Women, Cheers, the Cosby Show, etc.

Nope Not Telling Great idea! I grew up in the 70’s and 80’s. The 80’s look is so fun, and immediately recognizable. It’s funny to see kids wearing off the shoulder tops, leggings, and bright colors. They think they’re being unique, but we were wearing the same outfits 30 years ago, and wearing it better. If I do say so myself! 😁

If Zabrena does a regency makeup video, I'll make a gown. I do fashion history and recreate gowns and undergarments, including carving my busks by hand from oak. Interestingly, in the regency era's stays weren't meant to slim the waist, but to lift and present the bust. Lift. Present. Like on a platter. Makeup was tolerated as long as it wasn't obvious. Older ladies wore it quite heavily, but that's because they came from the Georgian era, where makeup was very obvious. The younger crowd rebelled against that by shunning obvious use, though it really isn't shameful to use. But make it look natural.

The hair for the Victorian lady was amazing! I think I read somewhere that women of society looked down on tanned skin because it denoted that you spent your time inside ( because you were married to a man who support that way of life) and not outside working; it was all about status.
@HuhHowboutThat
@HuhHowboutThat 5 лет назад
Yes, I thought it was absolutely gorgeous! Wowzers!
@ariaalexandria3324
@ariaalexandria3324 5 лет назад
Correct. It was a sign of privilege and wealth to be able to stay inside all day not working. Tan skin was seen as low a sign of not being rich. Pretty snobby. But these days, getting a tan is more of that sign since it means someone can spend enough time outside instead of working inside all day! Until recently, pale people, like myself, were teased for big so pale.

I would be very interested in what women would have worn in the pioneer days/1800s!
@ariaalexandria3324
@ariaalexandria3324 5 лет назад
Pioneers didn't have time for such frivolities. The Victorian era is in the 1800's. Something Zabrena missed is that it went on for decades, and in that time, fashion changed drastically. Both big hook skirts and bustles are part of the same era. City women wore a little makeup, though nothing obvious, and they always denied it. But pioneer women just didn't have the time to bother, and often didn't have money for that. It went to necessities.

I'm so sorry for your loss, Zabrena. My mom has been gone 8 years now and I am still very much in mourning. It's very brave of you to keep on going. And you really knocked it out of the park with this one - history and makeup, my two favorite things in life!! :)

How about going on a time trip to the 1750s Caribbean? How did women deal with makeup then?

Wonderful video! How about a time period where makeup was used as war paint on women. That could be really fun with Celt or Pict inspiration.

Cindy Sancinito, great idea, what period? The sixties, BB perhaps? And then London same period, Biba style. (Zabrena did a Twiggy look already.)

Cool I absolutely love it when you do the historical makeup 🤓😜🤪🍀💓👍✌️. I just watched this and what a wonderful wonderful job. I would love to see you do makeup from the women from ancient Hebrew. I don’t know if they even wore makeup.
