Thanks to @Year1organics (Seth and Andrea) for helping! Clark too!
This video is about one of the most special varieties of Jabuticaba that I've selected over the years. The tree has an intense flowering habit, and extremely sweet, thin skinned fruits. Learn more about how I found it (Brian Wright sent me seeds from Gene Joyner's place, and I got lucky with one of 3 seeds being a winner). I sell the grafted trees on ebay, sometimes seedlings too. One of my favorite trees to grow, like having a pet.

So what is the phitranta variety that it came from?
@FlyingFoxFruits
@FlyingFoxFruits Год назад
it's not a phitrantha, it's just what I thought it was when Brian Wright sent me pics in 2012...I was wrong, it's some other seedling, unknown at this time.

@@FlyingFoxFruits to me it looks like the híbrida. Maybe a cross between red and something else. What does the fruit taste more like?

@@kayakchapadao220 looks like hybrid, but not the same, much slower and harder to keep happy, more sensitive to heat.

Do you know if anyone has done genetic testing to see where it originally comes from?
@FlyingFoxFruits
@FlyingFoxFruits Год назад
I sent a bunch off for testing years ago, and they all came back as same species, even aureana, trunciflora, sabara, red, everything...all had same markers...would need super powered testing to see any differences...too expensive at the time..maybe 10yr ago I tried.

@@FlyingFoxFruits explains why they love to hybridize. They’re more closely related than we think they are and straddle the border of what we consider a var.subsp and species. Plant taxonomy is a mess anyways 😂. Thanks for the info though

@@FlyingFoxFruits nowadays its easy and not so expensive to do the dna/rna sequencing.
