The Great Basin Museum in Delta, UT has one fully restored and proudly on display. The director says that it is ready to go. Just add fire and water. It really is something to see - like a dragon taking a nap. Modern machinery just does not have the same character and soul.

In the Early 90's your father Kevin came up to Manitoba Canada to market and perfect his Anderson Opener for air drills. Still remember him coming and visiting our farm. My parents went to Andover and had a picture taken on an old IH crawler you guys had recently restored. My father had one like it in his early farming days. Cool video like usual!!

The Kory Anderson Case 150 Steam Traction Engine will be operating Aug. 4-6th 2023 in Burnett Wisconsin at the Dodge County Antique Power Club Show. First time a Case 150 has been in Wisconsin, since they were built in Racine Wisconsin in 1905. You'll have a chance to see a 1914 Rumely Steam Traction Engine operate a sawmill, and also vintage tractor pulls.

Kory, from what i saw online, the world record for largest plow pulled by a single tractor is 65 bottoms, or was 10 years ago (may have missed something). Do you have any plans to set a new world record with the 150? Think it could pull 15-20 bottoms more? That would be super super cool to see 100+ year old technology set a new world record!

It was running at about 80 RPM give or take. That means it can likely pull closer to 750 furrow plow (u Americans say bottom instead of furrow) b4 it may very likely be risking breaking something. How did I come to this absurd conclusion? Let's say my rough guess is right, running at 80RPM to pull 50 furrows. He said in the vid the pair of ploughs was 1 ton or something I can't remember exactly. That means the plough is about 25 tons, the case 150 weighs 34 tons. Let's say if we estimate and round that the work needed to pull that plough is comparable to its own weight. That 68 tons of equivalent effort. I've seen steam engines go down to 10 RPM and below on RU-vid and they never broke or whatever. So even tho they cud theoretically get more power by going lower, let's say that is unsafe. Ok so 10RPM is 8 times slower than 80RPM. So 8*68= 544. Minus the engines own weight, u get about 510 tons. And as I previously estimated and rounded my measurements, let's say 34 tons per 50 furrows. Thats 510/34= 15. 15*50= 750 furrows. These r very very extreme estimates, roundings and basic maths, so take my word with a grain of salt. But it shud be at least pondered over.

@hansenfiet2539

Refers to how many furrows the plow digs. In this case, 50. A bottom plow digs up furrows a certain way, and is suitable primarily for flat land.

Maybe some someone is knowledagble about this. Why are there so rarely two cylinder or even triple expansion setups on Steam tractors? Or is it just that a single cylinder always was enough even without the extra efficiency that would bring?
@colinfarquhar918
@colinfarquhar918 3 месяца назад
Many steam traction engine manufacturers made double simple (twin), as well as tandem (common piston rod) or cross-compound (two cylinders of different size, with two cranks). However, they were more expensive, more complex, and many owners couldn’t justify the additional costs. There are a number still operating today in preservation, but the single simple is most common.

Yes, the conditions were so dry it was not plowing but bulldozing concrete. I’m favorable conditions it would have pulled much better.
