I heard the same talking points over and over........mentor, friend, honor to assist, preserving history, younger generation. Alot of valuable life lessons in this segment........
If you want another challenge, I have all the blueprints for the largest steam engine ever made. It was called the Manhattan engine, and was built by Allis Chalmers in West Allis (Milwaukee) Wisconsin
I've shown the 150hp Case videos to some friends who were not terribly impressed at first, "What? It's only 150 horsepower, my Camry can beat that!" Then I explain horsepower is torque multiplied by RPM, and 150hp is at something like 100 RPM on this, meaning torque is somewhere above 5000lb/ft. That gets some attention.
Hi Kory, Shawn here from South Africa. Being a steam engine operator, enthusiast, I'm a big fan of your work and dedication. You are a big inspiration to young enthusiasts including myself. Im now 38 years of age and have been involved most of my life with steam, operating road steam as well as on rails. Thank you for building such a magnificent machine, what an amazing feat!. Keep on steaming and being an inspiration.
Pretty amazing work. Doing all that from scratch. My favorite hobby is rebuilding old equipment. Lot of time I have to reach out to people around the world for help. Hear a lot of good stories from people that like Case just want to help keep something alive and usually hand over whatever data they have. Seems anytime you run across an old timer and tell them you are rebuilding something they originally helped build they can't wait to help you. It's always rewarding seeing them light up when you show them the finished product. Makes it all worth it. So seeing other people out there work so hard to share their passion with the world like this is really inspiring.
I thank God that I grew up in a time where hard work, ingenuity and being able to solve issues were appreciated and you are the epitome of that standard. Thanks for your craftmanship, determination and willingness to take chances in order to achieve your goals. Your work is an important part of preserving the history of a time that could have been forgotten otherwise had you not undertaken this endeavor.
Absolutely incredible documentary! I enjoyed every minute of it and would love to see more. I’d love to see this engineering marvel in person someday. Congratulations on an amazing accomplishment. This gentleman was bound to be an engineer one way or another. His story of origins and moving into related businesses to build the 150 culminating in the story told here is both heart-warming and impressive.

That is beautiful, what an accomplishment. I have always loved machinery, I started out building slot cars when I was 9. When I was 12 in 1965 I visited England. There was a Mamod model steam engine in a toy store. I asked if it actually ran on steam and was told yes. I bought it and running it was one of the most amazing things I had ever seen. I still have it and it still runs.
Touching, inspiring, and very interesting, to boot. The rear wheel width extenders were a great idea. I think that width is ideal for the weight and torque of that engine. I watched the video of it pulling 44 bottoms, without spinning, or even straining, in fairly compacted ground. Jaw dropping, to say the least. I hope to see this tractor at a full blown, modified tractor pull, as an exhibition, at some time. This would be the kind where they blow engines and break frames. I have faith that this steamer would chugg along and pull the heaviest sled out of the arena, no problem, at all.
I can relate to you,I moved to Alabama as a child and thankfully got in on the tail end of the old south.I love the old people who have died and gone on who richly blessed me with a tradition that is quickly and sadly disappearing
We do have a museum right around the corner here, where I live in Germany, with a lot of those old steam machines. And also a lot of big machines, like excavators & such machinery.
Your plow guys could have made a straighter headland if they each lowered their bottom in sequence as the plow went past a certain point starting at the right side. Still a very impressive video though.
What's also interesting is how mechanical Farm implementary equipment since 1840 has stuck around to witness the science of compacted soils caused by footprints of human laborers hooves wide metallic Wheels rubber tires and today with increasing utilization of no till and left in place spoilage helping to cushion field traffic activities. With today's battery powered vehicles that are lighter and total weight . Also I think some of us having over imaginative imagination hope someday hover tractors will become common.

Great video, do you think steam has a future with battery technology providing the energy (heat) source, steam recovery via centrifuge (donkey engine)power unit of Wankel design close to a positive displacement turbine for smoothness, just a thought?
A comment for people where steam engines are not common. The little blue thing at the top of the boiler is the actual engine. All the rest of the machinery is to either furnish steam or utilize the power.
You let me know when you make it to steam-o - Roma in Windsor pa or rough and rumble in kinsor I want to meet all have had a hand in building your steam tractor
