This is third video of our Srinagar Series " Soon Shahar" were we trace to the background history of some of the important places of the city. These videos are created for educational Purpose and no law was violated while recording these videos.
Batamaloo is a famous spot of the Srinagar city that emerged as Batmalaoo from its earlier name Ram Lun as per historical texts. This place got its name from a famous Saina Sheikh Baba Dawood popularly known as Bata Mol that is one who feeds cooked rice to hungry people without any charges.

I have been raised in and around this Dargah. Have so many memories of it. The Urs used to be like Eid for the people of Batamaloo where we used to invite our relatives and friends. That time we used to avoid Mutton and chicken for 5 days. Thank you Muneer sb. for this valuable information

My grandmother used to say that Hazrat Dawood Reshi used to feed rice called batti in kashmiri, that is how it got its name.

Thanks munir sahab you are culture ambassadorof kashmir..your efforts deserve appreciation. but please do include these myths about religion in your videos. May be they are right ,but they are contradictory to Quran and sunnah.for example ,As you said Batmol sahab did not used to eat meat ,a food made Halal by Allah cannot be made haram by anyone on anyparticular day or time . Such beliefs resemble paganism. Pleased be careful in such matters .
