I have owned a Ford Cortina Mk3 for over 44 years, (now being restored on my channel) a superb car, that was used daily for 25 years, and is the ONLY surviving ex Ford Motor Company Promotional car, and I now own 4 classic Fords, (3 x Cortina Mk.3.s and a 1992 Ford Fiesta Mk.3.) Ford make great cars, and the classic ones are a joy to own and drive.

Cortinaman63 try driving a modern electric car and re- think this statement. 😂 I bet your car has cost more to run per year than buying one ev! Ford made great ice cars but they like every other ice car designed it to break and need servicing, that is where they make their money! Is this too difficult for many to understand or do people miss the obvious due to some missing gene?

@@Ifyoudonttakeitucantfakeit I have just had a look at the price of an Electric Ford model, £44,000-£58.000 !!!!, My first Cortina Mk.3. cost £1,575 brand new, plus include all servicing costs, over the last 46 years, and its current full restoration cost, and it still is far less than £44.000, and I very much doubt an electric battery car will last 46 years, service parts for old cars are cheap, set of points spark plugs, condenser, and HT leads. and the car works, and all are owner changeable, no computer fault codes and stupid sensors, or expensive main dealer only servicing, I did drive a 69 plate 31 day old (Ford Kuga Hire car) for one day, and I hated it!, only good point was comfy seats. it was ugly like ALL modern cars, lacking in visibility, (had to rely on sensors and a display screen), and a ridiculous amount of buttons and switches that light up at night inside, sorry but for me old classic cars are far nicer to look at, better to drive, easier to repair, cost less to repair, (parts costs) and with only a £1,400 a year petrol bill for my 1992 Ford Fiesta , or £2,400 a year if I ran the Cortina, I get a at least 20+ years of motoring for £44.000

Fuel? Servicing, repairs, brakes, repair to your credibility? Come on!

@@Ifyoudonttakeitucantfakeit I Keep a FULL SERVICE HISTORY for every car I buy, from the day I get it, so know exactly how much has been spent on brakes/pads/shoes, as every service, light bulb, screw etc. that has been replaced over the years is written in the book, date, & cost , so for example the Fiesta I have had 14 years, I have spent a total of £4,878,on (with out fuel costs!) most of that was on restoration parts, New wing £22, Front valance £15 Sill £7 , (pro engine rebuild £1,220, when I first bought it), Paint £500.The car itself only cost me £400 to buy. run on cheap standard motor oil, not high cost synthetic stuff, so having always owned older classic cars, which looks beautiful, I know they are far more practical to own, drive, maintain, and cost you far less to use than the new modern ugly stuff, not to mention the fact that a modern car devalues FAST, while old classics go up in value, if maintained, to a high standard, Cortina New £1,575 Cortina in Concourse Condition £35.000+

Now as you know back then, when the BMW Motorsport works division first started as the boss at Ford Cologne as well as a few workers at the Capri production plant quit to come work on production & refinement of BMW M’s first built race car, 3.0L CSL.

Also if it wasn't for the Corvette, would Ford have come up with the Mustang? The Cobras and ultimately GT40 came as a result of the Corvette's racing success.

@Arsenal Emirates I was fortunate to serve an engineering apprenticeship in Coventry, England when it was a major hub of manufacturing., cars, machine tools and aircraft. To think that England was the birth place of the industrial revolution is heartbreaking. Where Boris will lead the UK now is anyone's guess! Greetings from a Brit residing in the USA.
