I keep getting comments saying that the Mad Max game did come out: The 2008 Mad Max game by George Miller and Cory Barlog never came out. It was the official Fury Road tie-in game that connected with the film on a story level and it was designed by people who worked on the film. That game was cancelled in 2010. The game that came out in 2015 is completely different. It was made by WB and Avalanche without George Miller's involvement. The reason why it 'feels like' his game is because WB used George Miller's material he was developing for Fury Road for years. Plotlines, characters and unused concept art, even stories from upcoming Fury Road prequels - they put all that in the game without MIller's supervision. In result - the game contains spoilers from upcoming Mad Max prequels. And George Miller was NOT happy about that and it's not the game he wanted to release. That's why you won't find his name in the credits of that game. I made a video about that whole situation a long time ago, but if you want me revisit this topic in a new video, let me know. Hope this helps.

I really enjoy that game, but I've hesitated finishing it. I think the game we did get would have been a pretty cool online multiplayer game.

@@Scott11078 I really liked the game too, but it reveals what Warner Bros would probably do to the Mad Max franchise if only they could wrestle it out of George Miller's hands = spew out a lacklustre pile of studio exec plop for the money, and not the work of art we were fortunate enough to get with Fury Road.

As I have gotten ADDICTED to this channel of yours, I´d love to watch even more stuff from you, also in this "game-stuff topic". I ´ve played and beaten the game a few years ago. It´s somehow a nice game, but it sucks as a MadMax franchise. It´s just another WB-style game, with tons of mouse/keyboard-breaker combos, exactly as in the WB´s LOTR games, which received MadMax´s related names and textures upon it (as the creature which is a mechanic helper in the game acts EXACTLY as Smeagol does in LOTR). Cheers, sir!

I literally cried in the theater when we went to see it. It was in the film for less time than Thunderdome! And then to see it just completely rolled and ripped to pieces by The War Boys... 😮‍💨 And Max just stole it from the Buzzards according to the comics that Miller was influencing!! He had made some unorthodox deal to get the final parts to complete The Black on Black. And things went sideways, hence why the Buzzards knew who he was throughout the movie... That car was the last thing keeping him together. And it got torn right back apart... So, the ending of Fury Road wasn't Max quiting, it was him starting all over again, and finding himself in his Magnum Opus. The Black on Black. The Interceptor. His last hold on what was, and that could ever be now, in this Apocalyptic nightmare being stuck betwix the living and the Dead. media.tenor.com/KT_U1KKV7DYAAAAM/mad-max-v8.gif

Great video mate, gives a great in-depth history of the cars and fills in a lot of questions that people often ask. Glad to have helped with some info. A couple of things I MUST mention is that whilst I did do most of the car as shown, there were certainly others on the crew who played instrumental parts in getting the car on screen. The set Dec team did an amazing job dressing the car, they also should take credit for the rag tyre, I came up with some ideas that you mentioned but ultimately those guys/girls perfected the look and made it work, well beyond what I could have ever done. The scenic artists under the direction of Martin Bruveris added the patina and weathering to the paint which really bought the car to life (or close to death as it appears). Also others on the Action Vehicle crew did mechanical work on the car, particularly in Namibia (as I finished up in Sydney) keeping it running and upgrading other parts like the ignition, etc. As much as I’d like to take credit for the whole car there was definitely many others who had input to get it on screen for that brief 1:24. :) Keep up the great work.
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky Год назад
1:24 of screen time. What a massive waste of effort and machinery. And what a massive tease for all the loyal fans who patiently waited decades. Like why even bother resurrecting the iconic hero car only to have it humiliatingly hunted down and pillaged in the opening scene of the movie? What on earth made Miller think that would be a good idea? Was it written this way solely to make you feel like your massive amount of work was for nothing? Or was it written this way to specifically upset the loyal fanbase by literally/figuratively deconstructing the films iconic car and its entire universe? As an award winning classic car mechanic and body restoration professional I absolutely love what you and the crew did with the distressed state of the car, especially the details like the minor front and rear bumper damages indicating Max had already been playing wasteland bumper cars even before Fury Road starts, and the rough improvised looking cutout in the hood for the blower. Also the heavy black smoke effect indicating that both the Scott injection system is running rich and that the engine is burning oil trying to keep up with being supercharged while also used as primary transportation. And also the improvised cloth tent/shelter hanging from the roll bar, the improvised runflat/treadcap tire, the fact that the worst tire is on the right rear as it would be on a powerful RWD car, and the fact that the extra fuel tank is in the left rear to offset the weight of the driver. All this wasted attention to detail that we have to buy the DVD and pause to notice is why I can't stand the fact that Miller squandered all your hard work and exploited the hopes of everyone who came to see the car. People can try to justify it but I didn't wait patiently for 20 years just to be duped into paying to see the car get destroyed in the opening credits. I would have rather seen a whole new story without the car than see it get trashed so soon. Honestly Miller should feel ashamed for exploiting our loyalty/enthusiasm. When I build my supercharged BOB/Interceptor its going to be based on film 2 because Fury Road is simply a reboot wherein Max is both literally and figuratively just a passenger in someone else's vehicle.
@Restoprep
@Restoprep Год назад
@@Impactjunky I'm glad you and many other fans noticed the finer details that went into the cars. The main reason George Miller wanted the Interceptor in the film, particularly right at the beginning of the film was to help tie the film into the Mad Max universe, the car, and max's jacket are essentially the two key items that people instantly recognise as being Mad Max, so the car needed to be there. It would have been nice if the car got more than a minute of screen time but at least it does come back for a bit longer in its Razor Cola form.
@Impactjunky
@Impactjunky Год назад
@@Restoprep Yeah sorry for venting on you so hard. I do legitimately love what you did with the car. Obviously that's why I'm so bothered by the lack of screen time. Thanks for taking the job so seriously though. The effort you put into the car helped immensely with "world building" and to keen eyes the car even tells a story all its own. Thus I mean you no offense when I say it was wasted effort.

Also one thing I'd like to clarify: A lot of people are saying that the game by Cory Barlog and George Miller actually came out. That's not true. It never came out. What came out was a different game made by Avalanche Studios and WB without George Miller's involvement. The game by Avalanche Studios and WB is roughly based on the story from the comic books and borrows heavily from other backstories by George Miller without his permission, so it contains spoilers from the upcoming Furiosa which George Miller would've never allowed to be published in a game. Hence, George Miller distanced himself from that game, you won't find his name in the credits nor anyone else's who worked on Fury Road.

The attention to detail in the production of these movies, culminating in Fury Road, is so amazing and admirable. The touches that no-one would see, the explanations for changes down to the wheel rim sizes, and the dedication to the story that would have the “hero car” be used and destroyed in the stunt. I mourn that that hero car isn’t out there in a museum where we could marvel at it and all of its details, but these choices are exactly why Mad Max feels like a real world with real stakes and consequences. When you’re willing to sacrifice a quarter-million dollar prop representing hundreds of hours of labor, that dedication to storytelling comes through to the watcher. It’s how a “car” movie with little dialog can be so moving.

@@SwedishEmpire1700 - Ok, fair enough. I agree that Mad Max 2 was the high-point of the series generally, though I personally feel Fury Road to be the high-point of the production. The vehicles, props, and attention to detail in that movie was really something special. For instance, the interiors of the vehicles (aside from Max’s pursuit special) were never really highlighted before whereas this film included hand made iconography throughout that made the cult of Joe feel like something beyond the band of mercenaries who had coalesced around Humungus. For example, I appreciated the hammered metal interior of Furiosa’s truck and the locking accelerator made from (I believe) a foot measurer from a shoe store. But, yes - the culminating movie has to be the Road Warrior, I agree.

I nearly shed a tear at the end learning the car was distroyed, and then found out one survived , I was on a emotional rollercoaster, I have grown up with madmax films and I am a true petrol head I would love to see the intercepter in the flesh it's on my bucket list and if I win the lotto I'm building one , great vid 👍👍👍👍👍
