another thing he didn't explain in the video, Japan conquered Korea (and eventually China) because USA destroyed Japan's economy with unequal treaty and trades, unfortunately Japan didn't have any natural resources so their only choice is to expand their land. so you can say, USA is kinda the reason behind Japan's conquest of colonization.
@NN-dt7bt
@NN-dt7bt 3 года назад
It was not a colonization, but an annexation of Japan and Korea. It was asked for by the Korean side. Also a lie that Japan invaded China. Manchuria was not China in the first place.

definitely not because of having your country isolated for centuries, and the funnier part is that the country started modernizing much faster than it ever did after the US forced them to open the country since their treaties weren't actually as bad as china had to sign with the western powers. the only time the US definitely crippled japan's economy was when they cut off oil sales to japan, thus prompting them to speed up the invasion of southeast asia as it was rich in oil. korea was annexed before ww1, and the ridiculous amount of war crimes they committed don't agree with your statement

It would be fun for students to study Japanese history if they could find something to laugh a lot about in history like you did. I was most disgusted with the history around the time of the Taika reformation. There's a lot to remember, and the whole thing was uninteresting. The assassination of Soga Irika by the two princes and Fujiwara Kamatari, which triggered the Taika reformation, was interesting, but other than that, nothing was interesting to me. Maybe it was the teacher's fault.

After the WW2, Japanese made this constitution.↓ Now, every Japanese learns what Japanese army did to Asian countries and all of us wish for world peace.🌍🌟🕊👩‍❤️‍👩 (but please do not ignore the fact that more than 3.1 million Japanese died because they were educated to sacrifice themselves for the country) 第二章 戦争の放棄 CHAPTER II. Article 9. Aspiring sincerely to an international peace based on justice and order, the Japanese people forever renounce war as a sovereign right of the nation and the threat or use of force as means of settling international disputes. 前項の目的を達するため、陸海空軍その他の戦力は、これを保持しない。国の交戦権は、これを認めない。 In order to accomplish the aim of the preceding paragraph, land, sea, and air forces, as well as other war potential, will never be maintained. The right of belligerency of the state will not be recognized.

5:54 I’m so happy you knew that one fact about Korea, since the Japanese did assassinate the Queen in Korea (other name is Empress Myeongsang) and no one got punished. That’s one of the things that negatively affect Korea-Japan relations to this day
@HenSt-gz7qj
@HenSt-gz7qj 4 года назад
I don't know why but it seems Japan (government) is trying to "bury" whatever happened between WW1 and WW2. Most Japanese I know didn't even know they've colonized some countries in WW2. (Kind of the opposite of Germany)
@Kitajima2
@Kitajima2 3 года назад
@@HenSt-gz7qj Most Japanese are fully aware of the history between us and Korea and China. Some Japanese forget that it wasn't just the East Asian countries that Japanese Imperialism affected. Japan has actually apologized and paid reparations to Korea 3 TIMES for the comfort women. Korean politicians will just stoke anti-Japanese nationalism any time they are polling poorly, and we're kind of tired of this cycle. Ngl, we still owe China an apology. I think we just never bother because the US is a primary ally, and they (Americans) take every opportunity to crap on China anyway Edit: Typo
@Kitajima2
@Kitajima2 3 года назад
Btw the East Asian countries share a lot of history, both positive and negative, and they are most closely related. I wasn't alive, but I'm sorry for the way Japanese Imperialism affected our relationships. I'll just say that if it weren't for Japan, all of East Asia could still be colonized by the West today. Koreans and Chinese don't like to admit it though, but it's just a fact. China was carved up by the West and Japan watched it happen.
