I don’t think Victory Dragon was banned because the effect was unfun and powerful, but rather because you can counter it by conceding, leading to arguments and judges having to get involved. Also, regarding Mind Crush, you have an excellent point about Dark Worlds. At the time, there was an additional issue with the card. If you named an incorrect card your opponent must show you their entire hand. This is no longer the case as the ruling has changed, but the fail state was honestly sometimes better than being right even without Dark Worlds
your videos are quite entertaining, i hope you do a co+op video with Cimooooooooooooooooo and MBT, when people find out your channel i'm pretty sure they'll subscribe.
These are the banlists where I start to remember them! The Cyber-Stein standalone video was the Frankenstein horror one? Was most of that even about card games? I think SJ San Jose 06 where it came in first was the tourney that got it banned, you could go way more in depth. That kind of OTK deck is probably the reason they brought down level limit/grav bind further in the previous lists too, not just because they were annoying. They didn't like the stall/OTK style, important info for discussing the banlist's philosophy at this point in Yugioh history. Overall great series tho, I will keep following!
Now that Thousand Eyes Restrict is back at three, Metamorph will likely never return. But it begs the question what other cards could benefit from it that aren't Last Warrior. I know you could use Metal Reflect Slime to get out Cyber End Dragon, but for the modern era it's not very appealing. Metamorph was likely unlimited so people use Neo Bubbleman. Remember that card? If you fight a monster, and Neo Bubbleman survives, your opponent's monster gets destroyed. Totally worth using your Metamorph and Bubbleman while running this monster that can't be summoned in another way. The strategy is to run it alongside Bubble Blaster, so it can survive destruction once per battle.
Tried skimming through you videos to find the one about cyber stein, I was interested in hearing about the "emergency ban", but didn't have any luck, granted I only skimmed. I wish you would've linked it in the description.
"it's a shame the card eventually got an erratum..." What...what is this? A card gamer...that ACTUALLY KNOWS THE PROPER SINGULAR FORM?? WHAT IS THIS?!?
I have noticed so far that there is staple syndrome, where if a card sees play in a lot of decks, it gets hit, even if it is not the strongest. Take Book of Moon for example.
i dont think non-aggresive cards should have an easier time staying offf ban list - like i dont *want* to see meta games where control decks have the most advantage, it slows everything down and make my life miserable , prioritising only banning aggresive cards and letting defenisve cards free is how u end up with blue-white control mirrors and i dont want to live in a format where that exxists.
