In 1953, the operation was passed on to Franz's four sons who continued to build the business into the world's leading of manufacturer of mechanical clock movements. And since then, they have been masters in hand crafting clockwork mechanisms. In 1977 Hermle opened an additional plant in Amherst, Virginia, U.S.A, to serve the North American market. The tradition as a family owned and operated business carries on at Hermle, now in its third generation.
