Another Great video. I actually own a 2006 Honda CBR600F4i myself, and it's a great ride. I was very happy to see you make a video on the CBR600 history.
Love your video. I've been riding for 1 season now (still a beginner). I have a gsxr 2011. What brand of oil do you recommended. I 've been seeing a lot of post about the Shell Rotella T6. Would you recommend this oil? Thanks for taking the time to respond.
I immediately went to the garage and looked under my factory fairings hanging in the garage and there it was. Right above the headlight on the underside! Dedicated to Dirk Vandenburg and Josef Boyd. The fairings were hanging in the garage as a testament to the abuse I've put this bike thru the last 16 years and it still keeps up with the big boys at the track. This bike owes me nothing, my hats off to you Mr Vandenburg and Boyd!
"I couldn't imagine them taking a shot at kawi like that today." Because Honda is a piece of shit bike today. An experienced mechanic told me about shitty engine alloy Honda uses that's soft as fuck compared to Kawasaki engines, which leads to engine failures due to excessive wear way too early into their lifespan. Not to mention serious damage even when involved in minor drops. Why do you think Honda engines have the color of copper? Because they're probably made from it. lol Here's an example: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-2S6hwq41Pok.html Low speed drop resulting in massive damage to the engine and the frame.
@@mickeypopa So why does consumer reports have kawasaki in 3rd place with Suzuki and Honda in 2nd? Number don't lie bro. Yeah honda is using thinner alloy however their engines are not pushed as hard as Kawasakis and Honda refines their builds over years unlike Kawasaki who just trys new stuff without testing causing failures. *cough* Z900 *COUGH*
@Taijean Moodie Why? Because those consumer reports have been bought with clever sales tactics and "deal sweeteners". Honda and Suzuki may give you free heated grips while Kawasaki is probably going to charge separately for them. Honda and Suzuki will give you cruise control and ride-by-wire with riding modes while Kawasaki is going to have analogue throttle and no riding modes. Honda and Suzuki will put a fresh new TFT dash on their bikes while Kawasaki will still have old analogue+LCD one, etc. And of course, consumers don't really care what's truly durable, only what's newer and fancier. They will change their bikes in a couple of years anyway so they don't really care which one will stand the test of time over 15-20 years. Do you? Probably not. Does Kawasaki? Absolutely. Why? Because ship engines they make are not replaced every 2-3 years, they run until the ship is scrapped 30 years later. They outlive the damn ship itself. That's the company motto, they stand by their products. Back to bikes - I'm not saying electronic throttle is worse than analogue for example, or that TFT dash is worse than analogue+LCD, it's just new and interesting and one of the "creature comforts" most people want nowadays. Motorcycles are toys for many and the last thing they want is an outdated toy. They want fresh new stuff that they can feel proud about owning. Yes, Kawasaki is a little bit stuck in the past when it comes to new things and electronics, but they sure as hell make more reliable motorcycles. They have the most experience in making all kinds of engines as a company and knowing how to make them right. So if you want a truly "bulletproof engine" (a phrase tossed around a lot these days), then go for Kawasaki. If you want new fancy things and creature comforts, go for the other two.
@@mickeypopa I own a Kawasaki and Yamaha trust me I know Kawasakis are reliable. I have crashed my 2007 ninja 250 into a car, lowsided and dropped it 2 times. But she refused to die lol. As for my Yamaha just got it last year since my parents think that newer bikes are "better" according to what you said people want new toys not old. Its a 2009 Yamah fz6r so not super new but my God the brakes are way better!! However Honda has made a name for it self in the past where Kawasaki was known for dropping its valves. Its like how Hyundai is now somehow more reliable than a honda car however people won't accept it just because they only know about hondas past. Not gonna lie recently I feel like Yamaha has got more unreliable but somehow its in first place for reliable motorcycles? Hmm I feel like that report is a little bias. The thing is man I think people only think of Kawasakis racing bikes because they're known to leak oil even their 2013 636 however the bike did not die! It's just cause hondas and Suzuki can sound like garbage at old age but they don't leak and parts don't break off. It's not that Kawasaki can't engineer its that Honda and Suzuki underpower their bikes and cars by ALOT. The k5 Suzuki motor is capable of producing over the 180hp llimit it has but suzuki wanted the bike to last long where Kawasaki cares more about horsepower. As long as it's on two wheels I love all bikes man I do agree with you the reports are a little bias.
That was my bike 1987 CBR 600 Hurricane, pearl white. I had a matching helmet and leathers. I saw that commercial and went to the Honda dealership the next day and paid $3300 dollars for it. It was still in the crate, the first white one in Georgia. I was 19 and had the best summer of my life on that bike. Thanks for bringing back such good memories.
I have a 2008 as well. What an amazing machine it is. I had no idea how much of a gem the 2008 cbr600rr was until I bought it and got into everything about motorcycles. I then realized how lucky I was for unknowingly making an awesome choice of bike. I hope to never sell it 😎
07 CBR600RR white/silver/black fairing print right here! 🙋♂ I've had it for 7 years now and not a single issue. Always get compliments asking if it is a new model year 😎. Best RR ever!
@@zip500f9 I got a 06RR for $3995 with 3000miles runs like a champ. Bought it about 4months ago . Raved a friend that has a R1 short distance and gapped him quick af!
I have owned a Hurricane, F2, and an F3, and worked at Honda when the the first 600RR was released. The Honda 600's have always been great bikes to ride IMO. But I'm biased of course, I've owned no less than 30 Hondas in 28 years of riding and currently have 8 in the shed. I just purchased a 2023 CBR 600RR no ABS I like the fact it has not been updated and it’s still old school with only the electronic damper as the only assisted aid. I also ride a RC51 SP1 and really like the CBR 600RR for in town commuting. It still looks gangster in my eyes and to the untrained eye looks like the $26,000 Fireblade RRR from a glance. I actually like the older style mirrors as well without the blinkers in them. It looks killer next to the RC51 in the garage. No complaints here.
As a new rider I just bought a 2002 f4i with only 22000 K, I’m glad I got to know the history of this bike and I think I will keep it for a very long time.
I completely agree with the point that Honda has not been making the best 600 bike for a long time now... I don't know why they are hesitant with this segment... But I don't like the recent Honda bikes... Their strategy seems to have changed from being the pioneers and innovators to becoming mass producers of mopeds and scooters... I hope they get back to Mr. Honda's spirit of innovation... That's what made Honda the Honda that we know today...
I can attest... the 01’ F4i is an absolute unit. Great midrange torque, reliable, fast, and ergonomically impressive for a 600. Fantastic video, looking foreward to future history videos!
Yeah, the F4i was a pretty great bike, and so much more comfortable than modern 600's. I'm kind of curious about Honda's new cbr 650r, I sat on it at the IMS show and it felt very similar to the f4i. I would rather have a bike that can do 90% of what the 600rr can do, if it means I can ride more than a half hour at a time.
Jacob Gegg I use my F4i to commute to school and comfortability is a huge priority. I can confidently plan road trips knowing that I won’t be pulling over to readjust my spine every hour, plus it’s still got enough HP to keep up with other supersports. The new 650’s are definitely in that category of power and comfortability, I’d recommend for sure.
K0nst4nt1n96 That’s true, but that should be expected on a 650. I started on the 2017 rebel 300’s, so putting things in perspective a 650 is good enough in my opinion. It won’t be winning any races against 600’s, but it’ll be faster than most cars and a good time at least. If you can exceed freeway speeds, you’re chillin imo. Although you’re right, the older 600’s are bullet trains compared to modern 650’s
@@cavesuki8510 reliability and quality. Plus I got a buddy with a gsxr and my 07 cbr600rr is faster. It's just a great all around bike. Plus way way more comfortable. I did a 22 hr ride one weekend. I rode for 22 hrs straight...filled up about 14 times lol. I had a friend go with me and he had a cbr600rr and tbh I wasnt hurting when I got off.
Thank you for making this video. I own the 2004 600RR uk spec. Mine is fully black with a silver belly pan. It only has 7500 dry miles from new. Although I can no longer ride it because of having 2 Strokes I could never part with it. To me, my 04 model blures the lines between bike and pure art.i think it is beautiful and is my most treasured possession. The good memories always come back when I look at it and remember the times when I had two arms and legs that worked and thus could enjoy my bike. If any Hknda engineers read this, thank you, for your hard work to make my bike. I will always treasure it.
Awesome video our oldest son has a CBR600RR we got him his first bike a few years ago he rode around for a while and stepped up to a R6 rode for a year And go a CBR600RR
I was going to get a new leftover Suzuki Gsxs1000f but it didn't happen, watching your story videos and the one where you rode your VFR and it's garage friends, and afterwards I've super got a bug for late model sports bikes. Honestly want a sporty commute bike and the VFR is really attractive even if it doesn't have all the horsepowers and stuff. Smooth and quite comfy with sporty style, dang. There's an 07' just like yours and I might go check it out. Used bike low low miler and looks single owner garage kept. Just don't want to so this out of desperation. Peace man
I just bought an 07 and then watched this video, I’m so glad I got the 07 and it is absolutely the best looking cbr ever! I’m very happy with my purchase! It’s also my first sport bike!
My first CBR 600 F1 hurricane 1987. Now I have a CBR 600RR 2006. Personally my favourite year. I think 2003-2006 model was the best look for the bike. In my opinion it looks less aggressive in 2007+.
I have a 02 f4i and a 08 600rr. I LOVE them. The f4i is so much fun to ride, a freakin unit, and feels super light weight. All it needs is inverted forks. I just got the 08... One of the sexiest bikes I've ever seen, a lot faster than the f4i, so easy to ride, reliable.. Did I mention how sexy it is?? Never selling either bike. Both are iconic. I love Honda. Great video!! I've watched it multiple times!
Love your videos, I've just bought an 03 f4i condition wise its a bit like your 954, it was battered black and blue and needs put back its former glory, it strikes me the f4i is the perfect balance as a road bike between the 2 extremes of cbr600, much more modern, lighter and more powerful than the early bikes but not as track focused and hard edged as the RR Models. It was interesting to see all the different models in one video, so thanks for taking the time to put it together.
loved the video. just got into bikes last year and trained on a 1990 Honda VTR250 which is now 30 years old with only 24000 Km and we are the only owners. Last year I bought my first bike the 2005 CBR600RR and such a beautiful bike. Then watched your video and realized how amazing my bike is made me fall more in love with it. Thanks.
man I just had to say thanks. This is the video I wanted to see when I left the like on your VFR history vid. You definitely came through, great vid. Its really odd how seeing the history of one of your favorite bikes progressed can really have an impact on you, some of the best designs IMO through out this line. The interceptor was the first bike I saw in the early 80's that made me realize that I WOULD be on a bike one day. The F4 was the first bike I saw, that made me realize WHICH one it would be. I still have slight panic attacks when I think about my 01 F4i finally giving up one day. I have absolutely no idea what could fill the hole that its going to leave in my core. She's not the most powerful bike out there, but definitely the most beautiful to me (her fat ass and all). My brothers R1 is fun to ride and all but there's just no love there.
Absolutely love your videos. I had a 1995 CBR 600 many years ago and it was an amazing bike. I’ve just bought my first bike after many years and after seeing this history of the bike I’ve fallen in love again and I’ll be getting another CBR 600, probably the F4i. Thanks again. I really like how you tell the story about the evolution of the bike generations. Please keep them coming.
Just bought one 3 hours ago, a 2007 model. Even in 1.5 degrees pitch black dutch winter weather, freezing my ass off all the way home.. BUT! with a gigant smile on my face, what a great machine! cant wait for summer!
Love your videos, very well put together. I just wish the pic of my '01 F4i Miquel Duhamel replica would've made the cut for the video. ;). I was fortunate to be able to meet the rider of the '04 F4i w/300k mi on it thru CBR forums quite a while ago (10+ yrs ago). He had family in the 'burbs of Chicago and we met up around Thanksgiving. He rode up from Georgia, to Chicago area then over to Ohio in below 30 degree temps back home. Crazy! Thanks for posting such a great video and keep the rubber side down!
I still have your f4i pictures on my computer and plan on using them for future videos. I just already had the f4i part edited when I posted the question :( sorry, stay tuned and you'll probably see your bike pop up on another video I make :)
I own a 07 CBR RR and I absolutely love it. It had been my dream bike ever since I was 13, when the Hurricane came out. It took me many years to make my dream come true but it was well worth waiting. Best looking bike ever, so smooth and fun to ride. Owning a CBR it's a religion on its own. Great video, thanks for all the facts about this awesome bike.
Love your videos! The history of all the bikes you have done is spot on! I appreciate all your knowledge! Huge fan of your channel and all motorcycles! Thank you!
I got the 2013. I grew up on the body style now. But, sadly it's slower than 2007-08. I am happy with it tho. It still have the kick. Since I don't track so plenty of power on the road. Ride safe guys! and control your emotions :D
Mate, I really enjoy your videos but always I hear any interesting data in numbers, like the quarter mile time, or weights or speedometer in miles, whatever, blowns my mind. Could you try to use the international system units? Not hattin' at all, I just think you have an international audience that would be really pleased. Gonna keep watchin, ty for uploading! :D
I'll try my best for next time. These videos take so long to make that sometimes I forget. lol sorry, i'll write it down for next time and annotate it on the screen for you guys.
Speed x1.5 (1.6) Torque X1.33 Weight /2 It's close enough ;) The imperial units are interesting but if you are into metric units the imperial are crap to calculate (in any way) ;) Thx Hero :)
04' 600RR owner here. This bike is amazing. And after watching this video. I have no desire to upgrade to a newer bike. But then again, mine only 8000 miles on it and is nearly brand new still. Looks like I'll be looking for a 07' in the future. Thanks for the video!
I had the 2012 from 14:04, and I loved it. Even though I have a new fireblade, I still miss how the 600RR rode. Also had an 06 F4i before that for a while.
I fxckn love this type of videos where you revised generations of bikes. If I could make you a little suggest, it would be nice when you talk about numbers of the bikes to put them on screen and in metric system too. I'm from Argentina, I study english language but it's a pain in the ass to stop the video and make the convertions hahaha. Thanks for the vids man
CBR is the best. Got an 06 in 2014 at 9k miles. About to hit 60k on it. Valves are still in spec, had zero issues with it. Take care of it and itll take care of you forever
I have a 1987 Hurricane f1 red and black just hit 18k miles, looks brand new still, just had to remove the carbs to replace the carb bowl gaskets because they dry rotted causing it to leak fuel. My chain also just went out on me so Ill be replacing that and be back on the road in no time. Love this bike so much. I have also went 153 on that bike, I am the second owner Idk if they upgraded anything on it but I definitely hit 153 lol
First bike was the 87 Hurricane, I tricked it out in 91 ported, polished, pistons, balanced, cut the seat and stuck in a NOS, one of kind Muzzy exhaust and Fox shock from Duhamel's Daytona bike, it was fucking fast that could stop on a dime and handled like a Cadilac, tie wire holding the beat up plastic together , no thief took a second look at it :) Since then I've owned F3, F4i, 04, 07, 09, ------13, looking away from Honda now perhaps a Kawi is coming for me... Thank you so much for this video it brang back some great memories for me :)
dude, as an old man newbie, thinking about graduating from a silverwing moped, starting to crave some real power and the sport position, ive tested used cbr 500 & 600s, and looking at 99's to 2007's, with every year between, prices from 2500 to 6500, so you can imagine how helpful something like this video was to me, many, many, many, thanks dude...
My first bike was a Honda cb125f, then bought my first "big bike" a 2012 cbr600f and it was amazing. After I decided to go for naked bikes, had Yamaha, Honda, KTM, but I felt something was missing, wasn't entirely happy. So, I recently bought a 2009 Cbr600rr and I feel complete, very happy.
I love my 1999 CBR600F4. I have owned it for over 17 years now and it has 105,000 kms. I don't ride it as much now that I also own a 2013 Suzuki V-Strom 650. But that will always be my first and favorite motorcycle. Nice video.
My wife's F4i was at 50k and running like a champ when she decided to go for the Triumph Daytona 675r back in 2015. She still has the Daytona. The first time I saw the F2's and F3's was in 1992 when I picked up my first Street bike, a KZ550 Zephyr. Those Honda's were in my rearview mirror...But they sure did look good back there :) Great video!!! I love this stuff!
I love my 08.. I got really lucky because I wasn't really looking or a honda in particular, i was just looking for any bike for my first bike. im so glad
Awwww my first motorcycle ever 2003 CBR 600RR I learned a lot from this bike......it honestly was a pos when I had bought it but it thought me a lot and I learned how to work on bikes because of that and made it look like new like it should’ve been
My first sport bike was a red/black 1989 CBR F. The updated hurricane. I loved this bike and its still the bike I think of the most. I now own a 2001 Yamaha R1 which I love. The last R1 with carbs. Even with its age and with 45k miles it fires right up every time. I have been looking at newer sport bikes like a new ZX14 or H2SX.
Awesome video ... bravo !!!! nobody messed with the hurricane in the 80s except for the gsxr 750s n 1100s !!! the bike was a monster for its 600 engine. brought back so many memories- wheelie king 600 !!!
For years I've felt Honda has gone down the can since late 2000's. Just general perception but can't really put my finger on it. You have no idea how much I love this video and the details and perspective you're providing. Thanks heroRR
Love my 06 CBR600RR. Picked her up in August from a old fellow. He had 6 other bikes and his back hurts when he rides it. It only have 2k miles and the tires are still from 2005!!!
I’m rebuilding it 08 CBR600RR On my channel! I bought it wrecked and have been collecting parts. Watching this and subscribing to your channel is getting me excited to get this thing on the road!
These are fantastic bikes!, I own a 2001 F4i, 2003 600RR (first year of 600RR), & 2013 600RR. I picked them up new, & all of them still have under 5k miles.
I had an f3. My 2nd bike after i started on a katana. I rode the crap out of that bike. Every day all over town. Had loads of fun riding with my friends, even tho they all had new bikes. Now i ride an 06 gsxr 600, but CBRs still have a place in my heart.
Great video. Thanks. I love the 600RR and have a 2003 race bike. The 2007 is an awesome bike, but fitting the fairings is a nightmare! I offered to rebuild a friends, who had crashed and totalled the fairings. What a job!
Just got my first bike, 2007 CBR600RR. I know its a monster and I respect the power, I am taking it slow. My dream would be to have this 07 600 and a 2012 CBR1000RR, both are my dream bikes.
