“Going back to the root and discussing slavery as something that is still affecting us today … I think that’s an important topic,” says Edward Baptist, professor of history and author.
WATCH how Baptist’s book, "The Half Has Never Been Told," impacted the national conversation about slavery and race relations in this video.
Juneteenth, the holiday celebrating emancipation from slavery, is Sunday, June 19.

As a history nut, I love history. How can you know where you're going, if you don't know where you've been? One of the reasons the slave states are so poor, is slavery. They still have this stupid mindset. Why the rest of the states are going along is mind boggling. Yeah, we want to follow a proven poor performer, we want to fail too. ?????
