Hit-and-run on Stanford campus being investigated as a hate crime

Authorities say Abdulwahab Omira, an Arab Muslim student at Stanford University, was struck by a vehicle while on his way to class. In a statement, Omira said the university "downplayed the severity of the incident" by referring to it as a "potential hate crime." KNTV's Marianne Favro reports.

Hate crime laws are foolish, we should be outraged over the violence, not the thinking or the motivation of the perpetrator, because invariably thier will be people who sympathize with the perpetrator and now one person's justice becomes another person's tiarany and persecution. They should have debate classes where they learn how to speak respectfully about anything they want to say And also, how to choose who to talk to. When someone is minding their own business going about their everyday life - leave them alone. I think students, and faculty, need to remember that they are on US soils. This conflict is thousands of miles away. We can have strong feelings either way for either side, but unless we are getting on a plane and heading to the thick-of-it, #conversation, #debates and peaceful #rallies is how we ought to show support. Hating fellow students is so not beneficial to anyone. 🤷‍♀️
