Honestly I thought that was the reason he and his peoples got lumped up. The Transformer chain went all around the country on tour. Artists was taking pictures while wearing it. Just because you think Detroit is a mecca of all this talent the next person may think they are wack. Every city across America has talent that don't mean artist from mainstream America have to collab or show love for every underground independent rapper across the U.S. When these major artist come into these cities, you are forgetting about the local businesses that make money, making money off of parking, and also giving the people of that city an hour or two of entertainment and a good time. @@_unclecharles_ the artist needs to connect with the city in some sort of way. It’s normal for artist to network even if it’s about business outside of music . Just showing any type of support is normal. Pulling up to get a bag and not interacting with anybody even at the club is disrespectful and artist were notorious for doing it. Trick Trick was standing up for the city you ain’t from here so you got a different perspective it’s cool

We've ALWAYS had talent in Hip Hop...obviously everyone sees that now, but at that time, we were just mad that no one would give us a chance, but they were definitely coming thru and breaking bread in our city without extending that olive branch to our artists and talent.

I think he meant more like at the time the rap community was t checking for Detroit rappers like they were checking for Atlanta rapper, Cali rappers, NY rappers etc. Like, at that time Detroit wasnt a hotbed that the industry was tapping into. Anyone deep in to hip hop knows Detroit has talent. It just wasn't prevalent like other regions/eras. It doesn't help tho when an out-of-towner comes and he don't know and you whoop is ass hahahaha.

Ppl purposely overlooked us for decades because we didn't fit what the industry standard was and how our city physically looks. This is Motown…we were simply tired of people OVERLOOKING our talent but coming to get money in our city without putting our local artists on the cards and big shows. That would’ve helped all the artist from OT gain respect in Detroit which is tough to gain respect in from anybody including us. Today you see that all the time with big artist putting local artist on shows and albums now but back then not so much. We had a hand in changing the game and now look at us. On fucking fire because we had to TAKE IT to be heard and respected!! Just giving you some history…once again: Detroit is MOTOWN and we’re all of those legendary artists grand children and families. Talent can NOT die here EVER!!
