that's about the weirdest amp to play killswitch with. Thanks for the lesson though :D

In 2005/2006, around the recording of "My Curse", Adam D was playing the Caparison PLM-3 guitar (a discontinued model) that had an EMG 85 in the bridge position. For amps I think he was using a Soldano SLO-100 on this album/song, boosted with a Maxon OD 808 overdrive pedal, which he still uses although as you said in this video he now uses Laney Amps. This is a great video though man, the tone sounds bang on and that's a really cool guitar.

@@5usp3c7 EoH was actually a Framus Cobra, apparently the tubes died in it and so the last song they tracked was Rose Of Sharyn in which they used a Framus Dragon.

3:25 Literally the only reason I clicked on this vid.... I'm actually satisfied with my overdriven tone and wanted to hear more about the clean. I know that there's reverb and delay and he also uses a compressor on it but knowing that alone doesn't give me the tone I want.

When I was still playing guitar I was a dedicated Schecter player. Many of them are remarkably light weight!

The intro sounds a bit weird, the second chord is off and the third one should have the open note in it instead of moving positions.

Peavey 5150 (6505) for sure, blended with a Framus Cobra probably. Both boosted with a Maxon 808. And a Maxon delay live.

Completely wrong, bro. Guitar World still have the lesson for this up. I think it's from 2008 or so - that's the only video you need.

Hmmm Not sure if you got the distortion dialled in correctly. Theres too much fuzz/saturation and you really rolled back on the high end which makes it sound super muddy like picking up a really really old practise amp from a car boot sale kind of muddy. Adam's tone always has a lot more clarity and definition.

Most people don't realize that for this genre you kinda need to make the guitars sound grossly present to fit in the mix. So I completely agree that he needed more high end clarity and less mud

Probably boosting the amp with an OD like a tubescreamer Maxon etc would have fixed a lot of that 😅

Thanks for your feedback :) As Sean said I never look at guitar sounds once in the mix because it's usually day and night, and there's plenty to cut from in that tone to get to the mixed version I hope. I'll try and hit a middle ground for the next ones though! // Guillaume

@@ThomannsGuitarsBasses Guillaume you did great, the tone you got could easily fit a mix with a little eq work. 99.9% of the time finished guitars go through some post-processing to fit the mix better!

The hot rod is actually really good with gain. Put an od in front of it to tighten it up and you could get an amazing high gain sound. However, you should find a way to extenuate it so that it won’t destroy your ears. That amp is LOUD AF.

The tone is quite fuzzy and wrong and you talk for almost 12 minutes without letting any details on techniques or settings you just "WOW THIS GEAR SO LIT, CHECK HOW I RIP THIS PART"
