This is an incredible TV, I've just gone from a 20 year old 28" CRT Sony TV to this 58" looked at a few sonys but they seemed way over priced for what you get and reviews aren't so special even on the premium modules plus I don't want to fork out stupid amounts on a TV these days especially with longevity on lcds being lower than the old crts, bought this Hitachi because of the 3 hdmi and vga port for the price you get a lot for your money, unbelievable amount of settings though, I've had Hitachi tvs in the past and always done me proud. Just one thing though I saw a few reviews where people were taking these back as faulty with regards to the home button only bringing up settings, if you hold the "0" button for 3 secs it will give you full control of the remote so the home works just fine after.
Managed to snag this up on eBay, had only 5 left in stock, soon as I purchased it, 5 min later was all sold out. This is probably one of the better budget 4k TV's out there but the 58 inch is just a magnificent bonus.
Yeah this seems have sold really well,im not not surprised they have sold out so quick , and I agree for £299 its an absolute steal , the fact that's its a 58inch screen but also its a decent spec( 4k, hdr10 , dolby vison etc) for the money makes it such a good buy ,have a look through the other comments as I've said about setup pointers ( for example with movies turn off MEMC and film mode, otherwise you get the soap opera effect )..😀
@@reggiepeppa Mine arrived a few days ago with a completely smashed front panel, such a shame as they do not have any more in stock, I already called up and they will be picking this is up and issuing a full refund.

thank you for your video, I usually spend weeks deciding what to buy when making a purchase, reading endless reviews etc. However, your video and comments on HUKD has turned me into an impulse buyer, well done and thanks for taking the time !
Thanks mate, and I'm the same to literally scour the Internet and RU-vid for reviews and then spend forever weighing up the pro's and cons only feel even more confused than when I started lol . And when this came up I originally was going to get the jvc 55 inch fire tv but it had gone back up to £449, so when I saw this at £299 I began investigating and HUKD had some positive reviews and it was in my price range but other than HUKD I couldn't find any other info on it and I thought if its rubbish it can be sent back..then I got it and thought this is pucker for the money and because I hadn't seen anything on RU-vid i thought why not bang a quick review on here , cant belive all the views I've had and the positive response I've got on here and HUKD. Glad you jumped in and for £299 for such a massive screen with a descent spec I don't think you will be disappointed 😀
Hi mate and thankyou for watching, I think alot of people including myself felt exactly the same as you , just how good would a tv at that size and at a low price point compare to other tv's and its actually a descent set , deffinatly on par with other mid range sets that would set you back at least a £100 more ..ive put loads of tips on picture settings and setting up on these comments and ive done another video about the appstore to get people started ..i honestly don't think you will be disappointed 😀
Thought I’d update. I’ve been loving the tv, definitely worth it at that price. I do have to switch from enhance to regular on my PS4 to get it to recognise there’s a connection but not too big of a deal. Even with the really crappy WiFi I’ve had recently the quality is miles better (could be better with stronger signal but hey). Thanks.
I’ve had my tv for nearly a year and a lot of picture settings weren’t available on my Xbox and all I needed to do is turn it to enhanced 😂😂😂 thank u so much
Great review and thanks for the better performance tips. Mine arrived today - it's whopper. The only thing I will say is putting the stand together was quite tricky on your own and it doesn't help that the very small print instructions at times seem like they're talking about a different TV (it took me over an hour trying to find the correct inputs and synching it with my home cinema). I bought the Hisense 50" in Black Friday sales last November and was really pleased with the wonderful picture quality. Like you, I had my TV set up on TV table in front of a window. On Sunday, I went to close the curtains, turned round, my shoulder clipped the Hisense and it crashed onto the floor, cracking the screen. RIP Hisense - hence my new buy Hitachi 58". I really, really hope I don't knock this one on the floor, as it's even bigger - I have taken out Argos's 3-year breakage cover for £69.
Hi mate and thankyou for taking your time to watch my review 😀, yeah i was the same this tv is a monster when you get it out of the box 😂 and it took 2 of us to put the tv stand on as the set is so big we ended up having to put the tv horizontal to screw the stand in ...and im still playing around with the settings now to try and find that sweet spot for my devices ( almost there and I have spent a bit of time reading through the digital manual thats in the tv settings ).luckily though the devices I connect ( stadia, xbox, switch, virgin) didnt need a huge amount of configuring it was more trial and error with the display options , virgin I changed to settings on the box to 1440 p, stadia outputs 4k and the xbox and switch are just standard 1080p, but i can imagine home cinema's and other devices are probably more complicated. What you were saying about your hisense sounds like could probably happen to us,the tv is on a small wooden cabinet filling up a bay window and behind are 2 windows which are open and closed all the time ..gonna look at solutions to fix it down better 🤔
Yes, good luck mate - paranoid when around it now. Even thinking about having a couple of safety chains behind it to give it limited movement on the table. I did what you said about Settings > System > Sources >HDMI 1, 2, 3 > Enhanced - strewth, that really makes a difference. Watched that Costa Rica 4K RU-vid video and it really showed what the TV is capable of. Cat was sitting on my lap so switched it to 4K cat TV and he thought there were real birds and mice in the room. When I switched it off, he was looking at the ceiling and in the corners to see where the birds had gone! lol. Thanks again.
One thing I would like to mention is the TV bezel trim is very flimsy made of cheap plastic remote feels like a child's toy but hey if your on a budget and you want a big screen with decent 4k picture quality and enough inputs for your gadgets you can't go wrong with this telly
Just done some further tinkering with my hitachi. It's actually as good as the £899 curved samsung I had and its bigger and the sound is better I paid £380 on mine though and that was last week. I am truly astonished I can't see any point in spending more money on a television. Still very much worth it at current argos prices or wherever you can still get one. I have the 43" version too which is very good but size matters so it must be a female television lol.
Cheers for the advice. I just ordered one of these as my curved samsung was hellish for the soap opera affect I personally couldn't watch it and every time the camera panned it was like being in the ocean. I tried every setting possible on the samsung which was originally a £899 television but it just wasn't a enjoyable watch. The picture quality is better on the samsung but the necessary adjustments to watch a movie just don't apply well and the sound quality was abysmal. This hitachi televisions sound is actually surprisingly smooth no need for a soundbar particularly. The hitachi picture quality isn't on par with the samsung but at least it doesn't look fake on hitachi. The film mode off and memc does work as you say. So cheers for that as I didn't have a manual.
Why does this TV's UI look like a re-skin of Toshiba's UI? I've seen other brands of TV (Bush, JVC, LuXor, Sharp etc.) and I feel like I see this particular UI layout everywhere bar LG and Samsung.
What about differences with HK5600 model? I'm about to buy and I think panel is the same, but I don't want going slow on manus or another. So, which are the differences between? Thanks in advance! Pd: I'm considering too Toshiba 58UL3063, nice buy too? Any better? Thanks again!
I received mine a couple of days ago. Took a while to get it looking good... TBH, i nearly returned it but after seeing your tweaking of the settings decided to dig deeper. one thing i cant figure out is how to swap the channels about... id like to replace the first five-channel STANDARD DEFFINIITION presets (currently) BBC1, BBC2, ITV, CH4 and CH5 with the HD versions... have you sussed out how to do this?
Hi there, yeah it does seem that configuring this tv is more of a manual process than other tv's and I think thats down to the software hitachi supply , but i was prepared for that because of the price point of this tv ..i use virgin and don't have free view so I havnt used the digital tuner at all ,have you checked the tv manual thats in the settings ?
Hi, sorry to comment on a old video but was wondering if you still have this TV? If so, you were saying about the apps store not really being all that great but do you know if you can get the Twitch app?
Thanks for doing this review. The Xbox which you are using, is it a 4k Xbox One S or Xbox One X? If yes then which of the Xbox 4k / HDR features does this TV support? You can check by going to Xbox display settings. Many thanks.
Hi mate and thanks for watching the review its appreciated , I literally have a standard xbox one with no 4 k features at all ( no hdr features or anything like that), and it only outputs 1080p ...im sure someone who has watched this review and has an xbox one s or x may comment on this though and help with the question 😀
Hi there, I can only go by how I have mine set up and that is on a stand which is pretty much eye level and I have no issues with the picture at all,tv ,prime netflix are all great and from what I've seen in 4k I am impressed . The only thing I've had to do was play around with the settings to adjust colour, contrast etc to get the right type of picture ..hanging it on wall you could experience viewing angles issues possibly..i think you will probably see people not happy but this is a £299 tv at the end of the day and for it does at that price is pretty pucker 😀
It's bonkers when people hang TVs high on walls or above fireplaces - TVs and their picture are made to be watched at eye-level. You will get a slightly distorted view looking up.
Hi mate , so I am relatively new to this whole 4k stuff, but what I've read up on and tested with the tv is as follows ..so the tv comes with 3 hdmi which are set to hdmi 1.4 as default ( this is fine for 1080p and 4k at 30fps etc), by turning the ports onto enhanced they then become hdmi 2.0 which is better for more advanced 4k equipment , so for example I have stadia which outputs 4k at 60fps so having the hdmi switched to enhanced is beneficial for that device .so really you don't have to switch the hdmi ports if you don't need to unless your external equipment will benefit from the switch ..in regards to the 4k features of the tv ,dolby vision, hdr and hdr 10 plus are all features and activate depending on what you are outputting , so for example netflix 4k content is native in dolby vision which the tv supports fine .here is a link with the full tech spec of the tv www.displayspecifications.com/en/model/4a811cb7 Hopefully this has kinda answered your question , there is loads of info on Google aswell 😀

Hello mate glad you’ve got a video on this TV as I’m currently looking at buying one. Just curious, does this TV have a game picture mode? I have an LG one atm and it’s got standard, eco, cinema, game etc.
Hi mate , yeah so in regards to picture mode settings it comes with game mode, dynamic, natural, cinema and sports..game mode seems to be locked up with all the colour ,contrast etc settings pre set ( there are some things you can adjust like virtual hdr and film mode etc) ..hope this helps 😀
sylentwar thanks so much mate! Was just curious as my current TV has game mode and feels so much smoother and not sure if I’d be able to play with out it haha! Thanks
Thanks for the review @Sylentwar. Have bought this recently. Is it normal if there is a gap between TV screen panel and cabinet where we have HITACHI badge on the front. The big black screen moves a bit forward and backward on the lower bottom side, its something of a concern or is that normal for all big screens, Your reply will be much appreciated.
With regards to switching to enhanced on the HDMI ports, what did you do to resolve the issue? You mention fiddling around with it a bit, would you have any advice? I'm buying this tv myself.
Hi mate ,so it does seem that some devices don't connect straight way to the tv and by either unplugging the hdmi and replugging it in or changing the hdmi port from enhanced to regular resolves this. ..i spoke to someone on hotukdeals who has contacted hitachi about this to find out what causes this glitch and i should know more myself soon ..it is a minor issue and doesn't seem to effect everyone ,for me it only effects hdmi port 1 which is where I swap out 2 devices running through it ...ports 2 and 3 which virgin and an xbox are plugged into i have absolutely no issue at all,as for your other question about virgin ,I run a v6 box through and it runs fantastic, remember to go into your v6 box settings and change to 4k ( i do show how to do it on my video), and if you watch movies make sure MEMC and film mode are off ( soap opera effect 😳)..hope this helped 😀
@@reggiepeppa hi mate, I got this tv less than a week ago and I've tried everything to try get hdmi ports 1 & 2 working, they worked for a few days then no signal, any other tips?
@@SCUELFC Hi mate yeah im starting to think maybe there is a software issue , the only work around I have found apart from switching the hdmi ports from regular to enhanced is taking the hdmi out and putting it back in ..it may be worth reaching out to argos or hitachi for a response on this , ive only had it happen a couple of times but some other people its been more of a regular problem
Thanks mate , so I'm running 108mps on virgin and stadia runs absolutely smooth on 4k 😀, the remote on the TV is OK and easy to use , it has dedicated RU-vid, prime, free view play and netflix buttons as well...one thing I don't think hitachi have a code yet for sky or virgin remotes so you do have to use the TV control for volume and mute ...i hope this helps 😀

Hi, great review. Brought one myself few weeks back. Having few issues with textures and lighting on ps4. Unfortunately my 5 year old 43inch 1080p tv produced better quality picture when gaming. Experiencing grainy/blotchy textures, especially in dark areas. Just purchased new hdmi just in case that is the issue but no change, any ideas what the problem could be? What picture settings do you use for gaming? Struggling to find the right set up. Or could have a faulty tv?! Cheers

Just got to ask mate, does your controller have any lag when gaming on such a big screen? Planning to get one but the thing that worries me is that if there is any delay from controller to the tv while playing. Cheers!
Hi mate , so stadia was my worry to especially as the controller lag depends on the interent as well as any lag from the tv , but i can happily say I've had no input lag at all, and that goes for the xbox and the nintendo switch aswell, from what I've read you seem to get more lag from tv's with higher hz , and this being a 50hz tv works fine ..hope this helps 😀
sylentwar ah really? Didn't know that in regards to having higher hz could result in more input lag. It's going to be my first big upgrade so I just wanted to ask haha. I'll be playing on my ps4 slim and my switch and my only real worry has been in regards to input lag. But that seems to help a lot, i'll most likely be getting this then. What a deal that is tho ey. Really appreciate it 👍
@@robertwilson3168 Yeah i did some reading up about how hz can affect input lag , so games at the moment are designed to run at either 30fps or 60fps with the input designed to correspond with that, which a 50hz tv will handle fine , when you upgrade to 100 or more hz the tv processor is doubling up the frames which can then affect the input lag ,that will change over time as games become advanced but with the current generation no games I know of run at 100 fps , i think though the better the digital processor the less lag would be incured but its all about cost and what kind of tv you want..but for the switch and ps4 slim you won't be disappointed I was playing borderlands on my switch earlier and I was really impressed with the picture on the tv..and games in 4 k ( the division 2 stadia) look amazing 😀
Hi mate, just bought this tv and fired it up, the freeview is literally so blurry, is there anything I can do to change it? I know the 4K works on the apps but what about the regular channels? Thanks mate
Thanks for the video! I was just curious as to whether or not you keep MEMC turned off completely? For example if I'm watching pretty much anything, (freeview, netflix hd or dolby vision etc.) they seem juddery, whereas if I put MEMC on low it seems to solve the problem. Sometimes this incurs a motion blur but it's more bearable than if it's turned off. Could I be missing something?
Hi mate and thankyou for watching 😀yeah I have it turned off permanently , I done some testing with my setup ( compared normal tv with it on ,both sd and hd ) and overall it was alot better without MEMC turned on even tested on programmes like ozark on netflix and just made it look weird ...im not sure why you would be getting a juddery picture, have you done a network test ?( normally your speed will attribute to netflix quality etc) and done a rescan on free view ?..signal strength is the only reason I can think why your picture is juddery.the only other thing I can think of is what I did and find a hd channel ,then choose the best video mode ( ie dynamic etc)...then go through each setting adjusting till you find the right balance its what I did and sometimes still do as I do still some issues getting the right colour on certain programmes ..sorry i can't be more help
@@reggiepeppa thanks for the reply. I've even tried a wired connection and it's at 35 mbps, but it still doesn't quite look as fluent as it should. Maybe it's just my eyes but the picture looks so much smoother with the MEMC on low, albeit at the expensive of some slight motion blur at certain points. I'm upgrading to the ps4 pro in a couple of weeks so I might have to turn MEMC off as I've read about potential input lag etc. Currently running HDR on my old ps4 (playing ghost recon breakpoint) and again it runs alot smoother with MEMC on low but the motion blur is more noticable. Praying the ps4 pro solves this issue. Thanks again for your help
