This fascinating camera has captured my interest lately.
I'm genuinely suprised at it's quality and detail in low light.
It appears to have some edge illumination or some issue there, but apart from that it performs well. No apparent capacitor leakage inside. Yet.
I recommend watching in 720p to see the full extent of noise etc, although RU-vid's compression does a good job of ruining most detail.
The Z31 is 3-saticon 2/3" tube based broadcast quality camera from 1986 with features that were praised at the time such as auto centering, white/black and character generation.
The lens used in this video was a crappy Tamron B4 lens taken off my semi-functioning Sony DXC-M3.
I plan to make use of this for future videos because of it's strange image quality that we don't see used much these days.
When I finally get a SCART-HDMI converter in the mail that isn't faulty, I plan on tapping the camera's RGB out from the ROU connector and recording it via SCART/HDMI to an Atomos recorder.
There's hardly any content around based on these beautiful tube cameras, so I'm hoping to change that.
I like the comet tails.
