I remember when 'Downfall' was first released. GREAT reviews & tons of praise for the actor's portrayal. I added it to the long list of films I intended to eventually rent. Finally, after seeing about 25 different parody videos, I did rent the DVD. I really HAD to find out what he was REALLY saying. Such a good movie. I'm sure a lot of folks were led to rent the actual film....because of the parodies.

I've been invited to Germany several time to speak for Rocketboom & noticed (and spoke to my German colleagues about) the fact that there are no references to Hitler anywhere in German culture. No sculptures, art works, etc. I asked about the history of leaders that bring inspiration to Germans (like MLK or JFK e.g.) & the heroes, it seems, were no so much in politics. But football (soccer). But FWIW, I have never met anyone in the world ever who holds a grudge against Germans for Hitler.

I had an 8th grade history teacher who would say that she would break the windows of any bmw, benz near her driveway. She was Jewish... and serious. We only learned about the holocaust. It was ool, I guess.

This sadly is not funny for Germans. Not because we can't laugh at silly Hitler jokes, but because we understand the original audio and it totally messes with the joke... :( Oh well...

How old was she? Because if she lived through the war you can't blame her. There's lot of people from the older generations through out Europe (especially to the east of Germany) that get the creeps when they hear someone speaking German. But of course the Germans of today can't be blamed for what happened 70 years ago.

The answer is sincere. This is a parody. The video makes fun of the importance that is put on Paula Deen & makes fun of Deen herself. It is as if Hitler's entire war is for her cooking which is absurd. We find that Paula Deen's best company is Hitler himself. He asks everyone to leave the room who does not appreciate the worst possible food you could eat. He shuffs off Diabetes as if its no big deal. He makes fun of women in a way that is 100% not tolerated. To clarify, RB does not support Deen.

Was the Supreme Court's vote against Affirmative Action a reaction to Paula Deen's cancellation by Food Network? Where will this end? We should probably note that learned bodies have a history of choosing who to admit as their peers. In Thomas Jefferson's view only a select few who had proven themselves capable should be permitted to receive further education. What is important is that there is a element of choice on the part of those who provide access to further advancement.
