I sometimes have days where I completely blank out on a specific word and go on a frantic googling spree trying to find said word. The other day I forgot the word interrogation, and I had to google the phrase "angry interview" to find it.

This happens to me. Also I'll forget how to spell simple words. Example I wanted to write shock and kept spelling shook and I couldn't understand why my brain wasn't working right! Lol

Favorite lines: "I will fight fire with fire and watch the whole forest burn to ash at our feet." The most recent milestone I had passed, was actually returning to writing after several years. This NaNo actually helped me remember why I love writing.

as weird as it sounds, I really like watching authors have the same struggles as me... like, trying to work out a plot point, or a scene, etc., it's just really comforting to know that I'm not alone. also, I've been using my mum's computer and she doesn't have scrivener, and the amount of spelling mistakes I make on a regular basis that scrivener is always just like "i got you boo" and google docs is just like "lol you're on your own dude"

The best surprise for me from my entrance into the writing community is just how much happier I've become. My writing is getting better, I'm able to take myself more seriously as a writer, and I get to interact with other people who enjoy the same thing I do! I haven't necessarily reached a milestone lately (I'm not participating in NaNo this go around), but I am working towards finishing my in-depth outline of which I am about 3/4 of the way through, which is actually really exciting.

An old man making cotton candy for the climbers. ----- Yay for glimmers of hope! I also recently hit 25k. I’m about to head to Paris for a week so I’m expecting a bit of a slow down, though.

I need to start tracking "words" for my various college papers. I don't have the time or energy to write creatively like I want to, but I write several papers a week as a History major about some pretty diverse topics. I think it would make me feel better since I get simultaneously inspired and sad when I watch Nano material!

I was concerned that I wouldn't be able to keep up with your insane personal goal, with my life, but so far I've been doing pretty good. Not exactly 2500 a day, but I'm so far ahead of the curve, I'm not going to be done with my book before I hit 50k, but it will be a successful sortie. I've written more in the last 12 days than I've written anything meaningful this whole year, so it's good to be back.

Cassius Kent 50k is a very short book. Probably 65k would be the lower limit IMO. Do what you can in November and then keep going!

I did Emily's tag too. It was so much fun although I have to put off writing the story until after Nano probably. I have a hard time focusing on two stories at once. I'm fairly new to the community but I was surprised just how welcoming everyone is. Everyone from youtubers to people I talk to in chat has literally been the nicest people I have come across in a long time. I had a really dumb day after writing 4k in one day. My brain just shut down and noped out of writing. I haven't written yet today so it will be a surprise for all of us if I actually write anything I like tonight.

I've been falling a bit behind because of school, but I'm still on track! I like what I wrote today a lot. My fav. line is: "This is my destiny: to suffocate in the sugar-coated air of my hometown, trapped inside the girl that emerged from the flames of my father’s passing. This is all there is. This is all I am."

I've straight up misspelled "and". Multiple times. Usually this is a sign my brain is at the Master Class level of Done. xD I'm still not doing hot right now, but I'm trying to be positive and calm about it all considering I'm off to Tokyo in a few.... hours. Nope, not panicking. Totally not gonna panic (!!) OH! Also, I never said directly that I have an authortube channel here on YT so yeah. I do and uploaded my latest video on Writer's Guilt last night. Cause it's hitting me HARD right now. But yeah I'm trying to stay positive and change my point of view to being more healthy towards my progress, instead of fixating on what's not yet done. It's a challenge, that's for sure!

A surprise for me when it comes to the writing community is how supportive and nice everyone is. Like we're all so accepting of each other's weirdness. It's probably just me coming from reddit, where everyone is pretentious and nasty, but I am so pleased with how writers are on the NaNo forums and on RU-vid.

For the exercise you did, I would have gone with a story about the girl living with her grandma and it was always the grandmas dream to climb the Himalayas but she's dying and unable to. Her grandma would die and it would become the girls goal to spread her ashes at the top of the Himalayas. She doesn't know how to go about it and doesn't have the money to travel either but at a carnival she meets a guy who happens to be the perfect person to help her. How they meet is that he sees her from afar and buys cotton candy for her, thinking it'd be a cute opening gesture but instead she screams when she sees it which just creates this memorable introduction and gives them more to bounce off of. It's fascinating how different minds can come up with such different things when given the same prompts.

my favourite line(s) roughly translate from german to english like this: "Avner looks over at Jiliane as if he didn´t hear correclty. Offened, Jiliane falls back into her seat, only to realize he literally can´t hear her." It´s stupid but I love it. I´m at 21k words now, tip-toeing the line of being on track and falling behind

I think my best surprise about joining the online writing community is how motivated it’s made me!! I feel like I’m on a team even though everyone is working on individual projects, and it’s made me want to keep going. And I’m going to bookmark Emily’s challenge and try it out, maybe tomorrow! My brain has definitely done some dumb things lately though. Today I kept switching the dialogue tags, even though I knew which voice was Nell and which one was Lucy. 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

Even with getting distracted by making myself a birthday cake and Disney+ watching all of my favorites I havent seen in years because I owned them on VHS years ago. I'm surprisingly still on track. I think it help because today. Today I was doing the second draft of one of my heart breaking chapters. This chapter literally makes me cry.

I went through a 4 day drought of not being able to write. It was frustrating especially with it being around the time I usually tend to drop of the NaNo universe. But during my layover, I actually got words down! I felt super proud of myself and the words sounded good too! I’m doing poetry this NaNo so the probability of getting 50K is pretty low. But I feel really good compared to previous years.

Congrats on hitting 25k! You're getting back into the groove! Today.... I actually got to 50k ^.^ My goal is to finish this novel before Thanksgiving, since I know I'll be cooking and when I'm around family I don't feel like writing. As for being in the writing community, damn... Finding author tube has really inspired me to try making videos and push me to work on my wiriting cause I can finally see what other writers are doing. Oh man I remember the ice in Texas (grew up near Dallas). My Canadian husband didn't believe me at how bad it gets there until we got stuck for 3 days in a hotel when visiting my family, lol. I'll take the snow, even though I'm not a cold fan period. I'm hoping to hit my 25k milestone tonight:)

My oldest brother (mid-forties) freaks-out over cotton balls... so, I can perhaps see someone's aversion/fear over cotton candy. For anyone curious, it has something to do with texture, it makes his skin crawl.

I've been in a pretty bad slump since day 10, and I know it's bad because tI really, really love the scene I somehow got stuck in. So last night I pushed through, I had to do like an hour's worth of word sprints to get back in the headspace, but I ended up writing 4.3k words, which took me over 30k! I'm really excited about the direction my story is going, and I hope last night's writing spree kicked me back into gear fully!

Your spelling/ typing struggles make me laugh. I have a lot of experience with those struggles because I'm dyslexic. I can't use the programs where you can't backspace because by the time I wad done I'd have no idea what it was suppose to say lol

Curious: have you ever looked into Dungeons and Dragons? If you've played or are interested, great! But even if not, their player's handbook has one of the most interesting and complete character creation features I've ever seen. Different types of backgrounds, the idea of traits, and flaws, and bonds... I definitely recommend it!

I'm accepting my 0 word day for the day. I don't know why. My brain was just absolute mush. I feel like I should be writing, but my attention has been on my fanfics the past couple of days and getting to my daily word challenge (I'm trying to write 2,000 words every day) has just been a nightmare. And today, I got super distracted by the release of Disney+ and rewatching a whole bunch of movies from my childhood in addition to an essay for my journalism class that I have due tomorrow... *takes deep breath* I think day 12 might be my day 10. Yikes.

Speaking of cold weather, it snowed for like a minute here. Day 12 went well for me, I wrote around 2k words, 1.5k of them at a write in. Also, I hit a personal best. 430 words in 10 minutes (43 wpm)!

I have started my own original writing(self plug: follow me on wattpad via underratedtrashbins) and I am currently up to 6654 words! Although I didn't start until earlier this year, july 8th is when I made the file. I did have a break over the summer cause the novel was originally gonna be different, but after giving it some thought it took on a whole new direction. I am super excited for it and I see it possibly being a trilogy at some point too! The working title so far is: The Helios Era: Loyalty through Duty Anyways I am just super excited for it!
