That pep talk Day 20 letter was awesome! I will be at the Write-In tonight and am so excited for it! I only have 5k left before I hit 50k and am also very excited to get that 50% off coupon for Scrivener.

In my Winner Goodies 2019 page it says that "To get your Scrivener and Scapple promo code you must be an official NaNoWriMo 2018 winner..." I hope it's a typo, because I want the 50% off too but in this case I'm not getting it :(

Last night I dreamt I got a bad case of "Shiny New Idea Syndrome," and wrote like three pages of a new story instead of my NaNo story. Then I woke up and was so relieve that I hadn't actually done that. What writer nightmares have y'all had?

I'm almost into the third act of my story! I've got to get my act together soon, LOL, if I want this draft done by November 30th. I'm at 62K and feeling... uh... a little demoralized. My outline has abandoned me. But I trudge onward!

Adele 🥰 Kate 🥰 try Abbie emmons🥰 she has already published her latest book it’s called 100 days of sunlight it’s really nice u have to try reading it actually and her latest vid shows us how she edits and revises and part of her 1st chapter and it was amazing I luv Adele Marie too btw hope this helps

I'm totally hoping to join the sprint tonight! I've learned that timed sprints is how I should run my life. Now I set timers to get cleaning done, writing done, and even reading done! My groove got me through writing my whole book and now I'm researching for one book and outlining another, wanting to keep this forward momentum for next year!

Being eternally behind on my word count does give me some negative thoughts about myself, but I was in such a slump before NaNo this year. That I am NOT in a slump feels like such a huge win, I can overshadow the bad thoughts really. This draft is really going to be done!!! Really really!!!

new authortubers!! yesss!! i've just discovered jessica williamson's vids this month tbh - her 20 min writing sprint vids are pretty much 90% of the backbone of my story. not exactly detail or prompt wise, but i definitely get most of my writing done with them. even though so far that writing's only amounted to like, somewhere 15k right now. i'm just trying to make sure i write even a little bit every day (;´∀｀) it's the most i've ever written for nano though, not to mention a completely original story (and not just like, a very detailed au fanfic), so i'll consider it a win... tho since there's no way i'm getting to 50k by the end of the month i'm gonna settle with trying to get at least somewhere in the ballpark of 20 or 25k lmao see you at the write-in tonight!!

Considering I work a full time job (40 hours per week yikes) and am currently studying a masters program, I’m excited to have 22K words of my second draft! This takes me to 70K+ of my second draft so far. Hopefully will be done by the end of the year to then go for the third edit in January!

Hey Kate! So in binging your videos, I've seen you using Scrivener. I bought Scrivener last year and I'm so intimidated by it that I haven't used it! I can see how great it will be to use (hence the buying of it), but if you have tips on the best way to get comfortable with using Scrivener, I'd be eternally grateful. Love your videos! Thank you for the inspiring content. :)

I’m feeling okay! Thanks for asking. I’ve gotten into a pattern of falling behind for a day, burning myself out catching up, falling behind again... so my graph is sort of dippy. But I’m writing every day, and not just filler-my story is moving forward. Who could ask for anything more?

I have learned this month that I need to do more prep, I need to have a solid outline before I start because I am struggling so much this year. I also realise starting book two in a trilogy before I have finished the first draft of book one was not the best idea, lol.

I am going to try to make the live sprints. I was sick last weekend and am trying to get back into writing and catch up (I knew I was sick when the notification for your sprints on Saturday came up, I looked at my phone and sat it back down). I want to write tonight, but it is not until 8:30 my time which means it is going to go until 10:30 and I need to get to sleep so I can get over this cold. But we will see.

I’m doing well with my book, and nano has even helped me to manage my schoolwork better so I know I can set aside one to write in the evenings! However, on days when I finish everything early, I’ve been having a hard time relaxing since I’ve been so busy on most days, and I feel like I should be doing something or working ahead. Anyone else?

As a freelancer with a part-time job, I totally get this. It can be hard to unwind on some days. For me, it helps to treat my "off-time" like I do work time: as a dedicated block in my agenda for the day. That way it happens and I feel less guilty (because I trick my brain into thinking "another thing off the agenda today!")

2/3 of the way through, I'm feeling a little burnt out, because I diverged from my outline, but I finally feel like I can finish this novel (I take nano a different way, just try to finish something I've been working on)

2/3 of the way through already? lol wow. i still have a lot more to write and im slowly feeling the writer delirium kicking in. like, my brain is slowly turning to mush at this point, but keep pushing through it. if it weren't for all the live write-ins going on, I'm sure I wouldn't have enough stamina to kick myself in the but and keep writing lol

I am definitely proud of how many words I've managed to write (still on track!) but I've pretty much decided that this story is just gonna run amok and I'll figure it out later, haha! I've definitely learned a LOT already, just about me and what I need in order to get a story out (hint: it's definitely more planning than just 'let's wing it!'). I definitely don't regret it though, even if this story will likely never make it, I've learned a lot and I've had fun along the way. TEN MORE DAYS TO GO!

That veto note was so good! The entire letter was amazing, and the note itself too :D I believe the write-in will be at like 2 am for me, and I'm TRYING to sleep during somewhat normal hours, so I'll have to pass on it, but maybe I can watch it after the fact tomorrow :)

I just reached 30000 words! Very proud of my progress thus far (though I'm still a bit behind). I missed the live write in, but will probably use the reply to do resume work, which is next on today's to do list. It's been a journey!

I'm at 37k but ordered my Nano mug yesterday as a kick in the rear 🤣 I definitely need it! The live write-in sounds perfect, but I have to work tonight. I hope you continue write ins throughout the year! Your energy is so inspiring!! I wonder if the Scrivener coupon will work for the eventual update for windows? 🤔

I'll be at the live stream Today has been a very slow day so I need the writing boost even if it means needing the caffeine to stay awake. Haha! I'm actually really proud of how far I made it in my story so far. I hit 35k last night and I only need 5k more to hit my word count last year. I actually feel like I can make it this year. I've definitely learned that writing anything more than 2k makes me super unmotivated the next day for writing.

I’ve had that same issue with the validation- NaNoWriMo counts differently than Scrivener does. I’m surprised at how I’ve done this month (84k,) but feeling a little meh in general regarding writing. Won’t let that stop me. Loved your note to yourself- habits are important and hopefully you’ll get back on track with yours!

I will try to turn up at the write in. It is pretty late for me though so I may fall asleep. As in terms of how I am feeling now it is quite a strange feeling. Basically like two weeks I finished the first draft of my first novel ever and now that I am writing this new book I feel like I have leveled up. Kind of a feeling of I can do this. Also congratulations with your progress Kate. I hope your last ten days will be good ones.

I’m at 37k after day 21 and I’m so tired. I want to be able to do other things like read and workout. Every time I open my document I accidentally start editing and then proceed to stress over how long my draft is going to be. Once I hit 50k I’ll be excited to slow down

With what I'm struggling right now is that I'm a pure pantser 🙈 I tried making an outline for the first time and now I find myself avoiding the chapters that were outlined and just pantsking random scenes and plots! With those scenes I already have 50k but I haven't posted that yet on the website because I feel like I'm cheating on the "original" story. 🤭

I think they aren’t having us validate this year, since they’re allowing people doing hand writing and stuff like that to participate in the drop-down options. And clearly that’s something that can’t be validated through the website
