The PWM versions were initially used as part of permanent way trains on the main line, the drive could be disengaged to allow them to be towed at speed, then when arriving at the work area, the larger loco could leave and the ruston would take over shunting the permanent way train along the line at low speeds

Great choice of loco, lovely detail, but that chassis looks so warped, add to that the price and I think I will leave them in the shops...

hi there, great loco, but for me too expensive, so will stick with my hornby Bagnall which is proving very reliable.

The fit and finish looks really poor, even on this sample. Have a look for other uploaded videos of these and the dreadful lumpy running some of these models display, most likely from out of quarter wheels...or even worse wheels actually splitting apart on the axles for which there are photos of this on a couple of forums. Not good enough at this price point, but that seems to be Heljan all over.

Yep, I bought one and it’s everything you mentioned. You 100% correct. Lousy lighting effects, chunky details and non-crisp paint work and very expensive for what your getting. Then again I am really pleased the model was made (who would have ever thought a PWM 97XXX shunter would have ever been made in OO gauge). Just bought a second model as I don’t ever see them doing a second run of this model. I simply don’t see there being the demand. So in summery I am happy to pay for the model. It’s not perfect but it’s a whole load better than the old white metal model I had. Very thankful the model was made. Hence I bought a second model and intend to buy a third one after that when funds permit.
