this hits so hard because there is such an overproduction and overconsumption of content nowadays it’s nearly impossible for a teen to even begin to form their own ideas and beliefs. It’s just a jumble of all that is forcefully being spoon fed to them.
There's a lack of easily accessible raw information and a total disregard for teaching people how to find the information that does exist. Of course, it's a given that people, especially teenagers have never been given pure information - everything has always been filtered or processed through some lens. The difference with the Internet is that people can be exposed to more of them, and that the Internet could act as a medium to communicate raw information. Sadly, it's mostly the former and barely the latter.

Just do it. There is no moral obligation to argue with people on the internet. The politics you see on these websites typically don't pertain much to the real world issues anyways. With enough support, the people can outright skip the state legislature and get a bill passed democratically in the initiative process. The president is influential, and has gotten more so as new powers creeped into the office over time, but the real change still happens in Congress, so make sure you pick a representative who you want to represent you.
